I have recently replayed two of Eshaktarr's missions OB and Broken Triad and noticed that many of the doors were futuristic like the ones on 3 distinct adventures. Also the music at the start or load screen have been changed. I have reloaded original missions and played them but no luck!:p [...]
Edit: Ihave tried to reload the original missions again and when I tried to play them and 3 distinct missions starts?? How can I fix this without reinstalling?
I'm not sure how much you have to do, but I think I know where you can start.
First of all, copy (not move!) the
Thief 2 game directory (e.g.,
C:\THIEF2) to another location. This shall serve as a backup in case something goes wrong while trying to fix things.
Once you have done this, look at the files and directories (AKA folders) in the
Thief 2 directory. If there are any files and/or directories with recent dates (say, from 2010), delete them.
You should find, among others, three files calles
miss20.mis,
miss21.mis and
miss22.mis, which should be deleted. These are the three missions from "3 Distinct adventures".
ANC.GAM,
NIGHT.GAM and
SPACE.GAM belong to the mission pack as well. And I bet there's either a new directory called
fam or at least some directories, like
DOORF1 (hint, hint!), inside the
fam directory, which should have a fairly recent timestamp. Delete those as well.
To completely cleanse the
Thief 2 installation, you should go through
all the directories under your
Thief 2 game directory, and delete any file or directory which is from 2010. If you're done with this, you should be able to play
Thief 2 "the right way" once again.
It is possible that some of the files from the original
Thief 2 game are gone now, but if you still have your CD 2 somewhere, putting it into your CD or DVD drive while playing should do the trick.
If, somehow,
Thief 2 won't work after you did all this, or if you encounter strange errors and glitches when playing
Thief 2 or its Fan missions, then there's no easy way to fix things again, and reinstalling the game and the mission loader is the only safe method of getting things right again.
In that case, you should first copy your backup back to where it came from, and then uninstall
Darkloader or
Garrettloader (whatever you use), and
Thief 2 as well. If you installed other add-ons, like
ddfix, these should be uninstalled as well. Afterwards, delete the directories of
Thief 2 and
Darkloader/
Garrettloader (except for the directories for the Fan missions and the saved games), then reinstall
Thief 2 and your favourite Fan mission loader.
