I'm trying to get my current mission to load right from the main menu.
Shouldn't be too much of a problem: set stuff up, hit new game, read briefing, click continue, and wait for it load.
But that's not what's happening: I click New Game, it goes straight to loading the level (no briefing or anything), and when the level loads, it's A) not a version that exists anymore, because I've moved a load of stuff (and yes, I have re-saved/exported), and B) all the doors and things are open.
Even more strange, if I pick anything up, or close any doors (there aren't any NPCs, yet), then if I go back to the main menu, hit "new game" again, when it loads (still no briefing), I'm back at the start point, but now the stuff I picked up is still picked up and the doors are still closed.
A map that doesn't exist, and doesn't change it's state even when reloaded. Does any one have any idea what the hell is going on here?
(The only idea I have is if it's some bizarre debug mode thing, because I accidentally created a save using alt+F10 rather than just F10 to quicksave - I did this because I was trying to take screenshots for the layout/postmortem I write when I finish a level, but if that is the case I have no idea how to turn it back off again!)

that's a new one on me :) What version of the exe are you using? Are you running a dual install, and if so are you trying to load it from the editor branch or the game branch?

Single install, MainOpt, being why I thought it might be a debug thing (though I can't understand what use it might be).
Most likely this is actually me getting the Entry map wrong (and the end of level probably doesn't like me trying to teleport the player into the skybox either, but that bit at least is working :erm: )
New game - no briefing, sometime can pick up key and code to the safe and get the objective-loot. Sometimes: othertimes the stuff's already picked up (so the flags can't be set to say you have picked it up) and the safe and all the doors on the level are open already.
It's really weird, and kind of annoying because I want to get this "making it work" crap sorted before I put the patrol routes and NPCs in (since making it work is harder, and this is a forced-Ghost mission anyway)

Dual install would at least allow you to do a clean install ... as it is I don't know what else I would suggest ... except maybe cleaning out kernal ibts and stuff. I remember I had a different weird problem that was fixed by that.
