As soon as Displacer got better this thread will find an unexpected turn.

The secret I found to losing weight (nearly 60 lbs in a few months) was to simply quit eating within 4 hours of going to sleep and going to sleep borderline hungry. Worked like magic.
The problem I'm having now is eating immediately before bed to get to sleep (I HATE sleepless nights) and now I've gained alot of weight. That and the alchohol can't be that healthy either.

Thief, if it works for ya then stick with it.
Don't listen to these people with their "facts".

Are you seriously just making all this up yourself because that's what it sounds like
Edit: instead of just making fun of you I could try to actually put my argument forward I guess.
You said "The humble walk is still the best overall exericise you can do for your body, and is an efficient calorie burner. It burns more calories than cycling that's for sure."
This is obviously and provably untrue. Any calorie counting type website will tell you that even leisurely cycling burns more calories than the briskest walk. This is because cycling actually requires effort whereas walking, unless you're very overweight, speed walking or doing a marathon I guess, does not.
Even if cycling "just does your legs" (which is pretty dubious), in what way is walking a superior workout for your arms, shoulders and back? You're not utilising muscles there in any significant way.
If you want to swap your line of reasoning and talk about how walking is the best because you like doing it and find any other exercise boring then fine, but it's a totally subjective thing. Good on you for losing weight while doing something you enjoy though!
Oh Jesus if you really feel that strongly about exercise then so be it. Oh! I think walking is good exercise! Shame on me!
I actually used to like this community in the early 2000s. Either
I've changed or the website has but I personally think it really fucking sucks now. Sarcastic, caustic, unfriendly, rude.

To be fair he is right. To state that walking burns more calories than biking as if it were a strait up fact is pretty blatent.
Walking IS good exercise, especially as it is low impact and a good general stress reliever. It is also the bodies natural motion, unlike biking which is not, and it tends to (at least in myself) help with other parts of my body as well. Walking (or jogging) makes my back feel better and seems to help keep the body in alignment which biking doesn't do (for me).
Street biking I don't believe I would say is particularly exercising your upper body, but strenuous mountain biking definitely is (which is honestly the only biking I can stand to do)

Yeah D'Juhn Keep really was merciless with his health advice. Somebody ban that kid!

And now without the sarcasm: Brian T, you didn't just say "walking is good exercise". I'm sure Keep would have accepted that without blinking so much as rear reflector. You said: "It burns more calories than cycling that's for sure." Complaining about the style of his answer in that case seems like plain old deflection.
If you were to make a statement about the forum in general I'm sure a lot of people will agree with you. But then a lot of people always agree when you say that things were better in the past.

Thanks for the advices given, guys. I'm trying to at least cut down a bit on the panic-eating and (this week at least) it hasn't been so bad.
