I'm guessing the 'new threads' is due to the server being down - when the forums re-launched every thread was counted as 'new'.
What exactly are google bots?
Ulukai on 4/9/2006 at 20:57
Google bots are automated web-crawling programs used by Google to work out how many people are linking to what and from where, and therefore what to rank where in the search results. [citation needed]
