Hi guys. Is there any way to find out what the best weapons in the game are? For example, I'm specializing in swords and have found the Sword of Justice, which I'm using because I would assume it is the best sword in the game, being one of the relics and all. Furthermore, it doesn't degrade or get broken, which is nice.
Still, besides these little tidbits, I don't have any proof that this is the best sword in the game. According to the manual, the best sword is a broad-sword, but I've also found jeweled swords, et cetera. Is there any way to tell how powerful a sword is by looking at it?
I have these questions about a lot of items, actually: are the dragon scale boots better than the plate boots, etc.

I think this is the hierarchy for weapons - it may be slightly inaccurate:
Swords - dagger, shortsword, longsword, jeweled longsword, broadsword, black sword (from Lethe)
Axes - hand axe, axe, jeweled axe, battle axe
Maces - cudgel, light mace, mace, jeweled mace, heavy mace
Missile - slingshot, bow, crossbow
Of course, these are all subject to whether they're enchanted or not. If you can't be arsed to cast Name Enchantment (forgotten the runes) on it, as a general rule a weapon or armour will probably be enchanted if it was found in a secret area or as a quest reward or something.
Dragon scale boots - my memory of UW1 is hazy, but I believe they let you walk in lava without getting hurt. If you're talking about the ones Kintara sells you in UW2, forget it. Either way, plate boots probably have a higher armour rating.

Black sword?? How do you obtain that? I've played UW through several times and i've never even heard of it.

Actually, the black sword in the first Underworld is in the tombs on the seventh level. The black sword in the second Underworld is from Lethe.

Oh... and the 'dragon scale' boots in UW2 aren't dragon scale boots at all. The woman who tries to seel them to you is tripping at the time.

Actually, there are two black swords in UW2. Same world as Lethe I do believe, and there are secrets in the flames.
