I hands down love the LR300. It's easy to find ammo for, its accurate, allows for all the attachments and packs a punch. Plus it just plain looks bad ass! I never use the shotguns though, maybe in the next release I'll be more shotty oriented.

I never really saw much point in the shotguns once you got an AR. They're very short range, slow firing and don't do all that much damage against armoured targets unless you're point blank. I'd have liked to have kept one as a secondry weapon for dealing with hostile wildlife, but due to the weight restrictions, it just wasn't viable.
If there are prolonged second in the next STALKER where you're fighting mutants rather than other humans, I might seriously consider taking one as a main weapon.

Winchester 1300 is good in close quarters, f.e. for cleaning the bandit's base in Dark Valley, or for undergrounds. I have it now as a second weapon, I just don't pick up useless crap like worse weapon/armour than I already have, only artifacts, so overload isn't a problem ;)

But G36 is considerably better from 5.56 ones anyway, every stat of it is better (not sure about weight though). Except it doesn't allow attachments, but it has 4x scope instead.

That's why I always play with realistic weapons mod. There are no better, you're free to choose the gun based on whether you like how it looks or the sound it makes and not be gimped.
