maybe not JC style tho with all the noise. Maybe they got silencers for those weps too in "that" future.
Stack on 8/10/2002 at 19:18
Can you silence a revolver? I wouldn't think it was possible. Eh, when I play DX I never bother with silenced weapons. I never pull out a gun until things are going to get ugly. There are better ways to get rid of people quietly.

You can put a suppressor on pretty much any gun that has been designed/modified to do so. It is possible to suppress a modern revolver, but that would require a barrel without the front blade sight (or one moved far enough back), and like all suppressors, some sort of mounting system (like threads to screw one on).

well, it isnt much needed anyway. if they just focus on making all of the game just as detailed and challenging with secrets and hidden stash etc. playing dx became abit boring somewhere after liberty island, then kinda picked up again:idea: something like that. i know they make graphics nicer and all, but if it could be even bigger and longer than dx it would be great. every level just as detailed as the first one, all packed with small quests and hidden treasures:cheeky:

I only hope that the don't add any BFG type weapon or anything like that. Half of the fun of a game like DX is when you've got to figure out how to get the job done without indiscriminate blasting. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy digital massacres as much as the next jaded, media-saturated borderline alcoholic, but after years of games of the "kill whatever you see" ilk I'm itching for something that allows me to be carefull.

jump on the back of the bot and rip his wierings out?:)

Wasn't there a switch on the back leg on the BIG-BOTS in Paris? You could turn them off with ease.............or am I simply mad?
Picasso on 10/10/2002 at 22:02
No, I believe you are, in fact, mad.
The Paris bots could be shut down via computer (streetstation17/werewolf), but I'm pretty sure there wasn't any type of switch on them.

Hmmm, some very good ideas in here, I didn't read it all so if I repeat something, let me know.
Grenade launcher or attachment of same: Launches grenades or special ammo, but it would be nice to be able to place smoke grenades somewhere away from you as a distraction or to provide cover at a weak point.
Maybe two models of Assault Rifle: One takes the grenade launcher mod, the other gets a scope and doubles as a sniper's rifle (each takes two types of ammo, and reacts differently). This eliminates the need for a specialized SR. Most Assault rifles should have dual-functionality.
Alternative scope: Starlight, infra-red, something cool.
Rail-gun: This is advanced technology, I'd like to see this as an alternative to the stealth pistol, but it should have a slow reload and small amount of ammo.
Percussion instrument: This would be knock-down device for pushing things (with air pressure) down or away, taking down a door perhaps?
Sonic Weapon: This could be something that was audible and loud, or something of extreme vibration that could "shake" something apart (even at the molecular level), maybe liquifying "things".
Ultra Wide band Radio/phone/RADAR/infolink: UWB is here already and being used by police/military (see (
www.timedomain.com)), no reason why it won't be used by paramilitary in the future. It should be a portable unit that could be placed up next to a wall and see whats on the other side, as well as some other cool stuff.
Decryption tools: DX1 had hacking tools/skills and thieving tools, why not have something that can decrypt 1024-bit encoding? Security is going to HAVE to be more stringent than in DX1, you can't just have "anybody" reading your data.
Flashbang and smoke: Taking a page from Counter-strike et al, these are cool grens. Keep the LAM, gas, and EMP, but get rid of the scramble grens.
Jet packs: Short duration, quick transportation. Better than using LAMs to climb a wall.
Web-gun: Non-lethal takedown, shoots out something of high tensil strength (yes, like Spiderman) and short life. This could prevent some guard from activating the alarm, without resorting to killing him. Ammo in canister form like Flamethrower.
All weapons should be of reasonable size (GEP seems like it would get noticed in a crowd, and where would JC hide it anyway?).

i know all the talk about guns and such is because its a weapons forum but throughout deus ex the stuff you got fitted perfectly with the puzzles. what weapons you got meant nothing if the good ones didnt require some serious thinking to aquire in dx1. personally im a stealth player and will probably only use baton/ riot prod/ tranq darts. and frankly if they made and instant take down non lethal ranged weapon it would take all the fun of sneeking up behind people and making them go "ooooooh" with the riot prod.
you dont want to know where jc hides his gep gun why do you think he don't smile and he walks funny.
