So I'm in Something or Other Valley, running like crazy because I had to backtrack all the way to the fatass in Cordon as quest time was running out and... my quest time is running out. I have four hours to find that drunkard's super awesome gun.
I got where the mark is, and it just so happens it's in the middle of a road. Empty road. And the weapon is nowhere to be seen.
So, what do I do? Is this a bug? Or is there some secret dwarven underground around?

I can't remember where the weapon can be, but sometimes it helps to think in 3D :) I mean undergrounds. Also I seem to remember there were some troubles with that quest with pre-1.0004 patches.

The gun is carried by one of the guys in dark valley, so it's location can vary a lot. Try looking on all levels, there are some underground sewery type things in the northernmost compound on that map.

Yeah, that's where I got it, but I'm running around pretty pointlessly and can't find any underground which would be (

[Edit]By the way, is there ANY way to disable the mousewheel weapon change? I'm beginning to think they hardcoded that because seriously, no matter what I do it's always in.

X18 is in the Dark Valley. Perhaps it's there? Just enter there, if you'll see point on your radar when this objective is active, it's there. Is your game patched?

I actually find the weapon more often in Agroprom. Once I even found it on the ground, near an anomally, along with some other five or six weapons. Guess a whole group of stalkers walked right into it.

I think there's a tunnel underneath that road that you have to get to from about 40 meters away at about a 45 degree angle towards the railway with all the lightning. It's like a ramp down into a car park with a bunch of anomalies down there from what I remember. Look around for that tunnel going underneath the ground a little ways around where the mark on your map is.
