While I agree in a general sense on the tone of the editorial, Bob Cesna tends to be pretty straight on in his analysis of things. Strip away the sarcasm and right-baiting and his editorials are solid.

Well I got sick of hearing the conservatives too. They had 8 years.
Isn't our country in great shape after 8 years of conservative stewardship?
Anyway, Heres an article that definately gives me hope.

If you don't want to read it dethtoll you can go back to your cartoons.

Come on, dude. just because dethtoll didn't like the tone of that editorial doesn't make him a knuckle-dragging yahoo.
Trance on 30/1/2009 at 05:27
Agreed. That editorial made me sick, and I'm no Republican.
Stitch on 30/1/2009 at 05:36
Eh, take the tone with a grain of salt (like I said above) and the article presents a good analysis. It's not like Limbaugh (or some of the Air America idiots on the left) who bluster on without any tangible connection to reality.

Ok, Granted the tone of the article is a little harsh. But he's got the facts right.
The economy is on the brink of collapse and the republicans are still practicing obstructionism. Not one single republican voted for the stimulus package to get the economy moving.
Sorry, dethtoll :erg:
If by some chance Obama fails to get the economy moving, you can bet who will be screaming the loudest even though they were largely responsible.
fett on 30/1/2009 at 06:17
It's interesting to see Obama giving them enough rope to hang themselves. He's being very gracious and inclusive with them (publicly, I might add), so that when they fuck things up or stall legislation, he doesn't even have to criticize them--they automatically look like dicknoses because he's being so nice to them. The guy has class.
Plus, yeah Republicans shut the fuck up. You've had nearly 8 years to fix shit and you fell asleep at the wheel. Who gives a rat's ass ulcer what you think at this point?
june gloom on 30/1/2009 at 06:37
So let me get this straight. Because we had 8 16 years of boorish right-wing whackbags going on and on about how liberalism is a mental disorder, that somehow makes it okay for liberals to go out of their way to look like douchebags just 'cuz the Democrats are in power and that sort of thing is fashionable now? (even though they've been doing it just as long)
'Cuz after a while it all sounds the same, just swap a few different words dependant on ideology and you've got something to appeal to a bunch of mouthbreathers who can't have a complete thought without HURR BUSH IS HITLER or HURR NOBAMA or if you wanna get retro-90s HURR CLINTON'S COCK.
And people wonder why politics makes me froth at the mouth.
Ghostly Apparition on 30/1/2009 at 07:31
No, You're right it doesn't make it okay for liberals to look like douchbags, but I don't see how that makes it fashionable. Plus if you haven't noticed the boorish right wing whackbags haven't stopped. In fact they seem to be acting like they are still in the majority. Would someone PLEASE tell them they lost the election?
But it seems to me that you think its just as fashionable to say that it all sounds the same, they're all alike etc. That kind of thinking causes people to give up and not get involved, not vote etc. After all what can one person do after all. (also whats the deal with your mouthbreathers comment? You say that a lot and makes no sense)
Point being there are 300 million of us 1 persons in the U.S. We far outnumber The small amount of people in congress or senate.
If history proves anything its that the people in power will do what the american people want if enough of us push them in the right direction. They
are our elected representatives. Govt of the people by the people and for the people and all that. But its true.
Just saying they are all alike gets us nowhere. I really don't care which party you pick. Pick a side and work to effect change.

Okay, 'cuz I'm more than a little irritated I'm going to pick this apart piece by piece.

Of course they haven't stopped. Neither have the loudmouthed left-wing whackbags. They've both been going on and on for decades, and they'll just
keep going on and on and on until Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity engage in a nuclear exchange with NPR. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

You certainly like to put words in my mouth, don't you? When I say they all sound the same, I'm referring to political commentators, bloggers, et cetera- i.e. the people who really shouldn't matter. The windbags who think that 'cuz they got a radio show and a book deal that somehow gives them license to make absolute asses of themselves because they know people will blindly agree with whoever is spouting bullshit that matches their retarded, narrow-minded ideology because the masses can't think for themselves. By all means, get involved, but don't get swept up in partisan bullshit.

In theory, yes. In practice, no. I look at Congress and I see a bunch of overpaid stuffed suits who are more interested in lining their own pockets and advancing their own ideologies than they are in actually doing anything to improve America. They like to pretend they're doing it for their constituents to make themselves feel better. Welcome to politics. Business as usual. They should all be fired, every last one of them, and replaced with people who actually give a shit about their country.

And here's the bit that I just couldn't ignore. Are you fucking kidding me? "Pick a side?" Congratulations, you've discovered exactly what I fucking hate about politics,
and managed to insult me in the process. What if I don't
want to pick a fucking side? What if I want to vote for whoever I damn well feel like voting for, not on the basis of party affiliation but on the basis of how good a job I think they'd do? What if I disagree with both sides on different issues? I'm a social semi-liberal who supports gay marriage but WAIT I'm a fiscal conservative who hates taxes! Should I abandon some of my principles and "pick a side" as you say? Fall into step with the party line and vote for the same fucking party every year? Or should I think for myself and make my own fucking decisions? Whatever happened to finding common ground? Agreeing to disagree? Working together to better our nation? Shit like "pick a side" is a fucking detriment to this country and shame on you for propagating it.
Fuck your partisan politics. Go shove that shit up your urethra because I'm like the limbless kid at recess- I don't play.
