Deus Ex is a game I'm reluctant to pull serious political quotes from, what with a large part of the premise being "let's throw every totally insane conspiracy theory together and see what happens".

Thief13x, did you really expect Obama to really call anyone out on anything during his inauguration speech? I think to do so would have been to misread the tone of the situation. This wasn't a "Previous administrations were all corrupt and lazy" situation as much as a "We are fucked, times are tough, but I'm gonna work hard to fix it" set up. I think his speech captured the moment pretty perfectly.

Granted, but I found that line particularly sage.
As to ercles' comment... I want to bring up oudeis' comment from earlier today, where he lauds Obama for "raking W over the coals"- having read that I expected Obama to have called W out by name, but he didn't. I'd like to see what exactly he said that made you think he was lambasting Bush, but my impression was that he was referring not just to the previous administration but decades upon decades of bad government. I've said it before- the problems America faces now are a lot older than the Bush administration.

At the risk of offending someone for some reason, I too would like to add my international congratulations the the U.S. of A. for their bouncing new President.
But if you ever put another strutting, brainless, inbred, arrogant, ______ , ______ , _________ in the Oval Office again I am going to grab a fresh baby seal and come down there to club some sense into the whole lot of you (in a polite, Canadian way, of course).

This editorial is peripherally related, but, still entertaining enough to listen to. A few days ago, Bush gave his last 'wistful' press conference, ending it with a "thank you." Bob Garfield of On the Media gives a brief recount of the relationship between Bush and 'the media,' and responds with thanks of his own.
(http://onthemedia.org/transcripts/2009/01/16/01) http://onthemedia.org/transcripts/2009/01/16/01Worth reading/listening to, if only for the summation of just some of the stunningly consequence-free (to the Bush presidency, anyway) stuff that's gone on for the last 8 years.
