I know you don't mean this as such, but this is a powerful insult.
Just because Obama is President does not mean that everything, or even anything at all, will get better. In fact it may become worse. We don't know. We can't see the future.
The President does not have near as much power as you guys seem to believe, and he has no power whatsoever to fix the economy. The government can't fix things, it can only break them.
I know right, if everyone just did what they should we wouldn't need government! Keep the dream alive!

My earlier rant about tearful burger flippers aside, good speech.

And he hasn't started another war yet.
For one reason or another I found that comment hilarious. This thread has gotten much better since page 4, I knew change was possible.

In short, the fact that you would utter such words marks you as a simpleton and a fool.
She marked herself as such a
long time ago.
In other news: I'm fucking ecstatic. We have a real president again

I wonder how the heck Obama has managed to keep his cool for so long. Especially when you consider how many people are projecting these Christ-like attributes onto him. So many people are hoping that he'll turn things around. I can't see how he doesn't crack under that kind of pressure. Maybe he has nervous breakdowns in private, like Francis Bacon's screaming pope.
At the very least I feel confident that he'll make some improvements (whereas I never had any confidence in Bush at all). And there is something inspiring about how he's managed to get such a positive reaction from all sorts of formerly jaded and cynical people. After the last 8 years, America needs a massive PR facelift, and Obama seems like the kind of guy that can get such a job done.

There's no point in even arguing; I should know better than to post here.
Edit: The fact that you somehow believe that government employees are inherently superior to every other human being is laughable. Who's the greater fool here? I see a lot of people who throw a lot of blind trust into people who are just as flawed as any other human, if not more so.
After being screwed over for countless years by the imperfect people in power, it's just hilarious to see so many people getting on their knees to give it a blowjob. Party affiliation means nothing; none of them are in it for altruistic reasons, because altruism is a fiction.

But...but...the government is the most efficient way to get anything done, right!!??
I voted for Obama, but that's mostly because I think he'll do a good job at the handful of things that the President actually has control over. As far as everything else goes, I really wouldn't expect much to change since we've had the same people writing legislation for the past 2 years.
