We do drugs itt. - by The Alchemist

You know, I never would have considered this, but after last night and now the mention of alcoholism and how addiction works in this thread -- which has been different from a lot of the other yuppy bullshit you'll hear elsewhere -- I wonder if I might need to quit drinking.
Last night I drank way too much for my own good and made a mess of the curb outside the bar. My friends helped me walk, helped me carry my shit, helped me find water to drink, helped me get my boots off, and put me to bed. It happened the same way last time (minus vomiting). I don't know if I owe them that kind of hassle.

Tell you what. Disregard whatever I said, and try everything. So far you've tried the wussy stuff, and I think you're ready for some man drugs now.
Seriously, though. I admit that I made a mistake by throwing my opinion around as though it had some sort of moral weight to it. I confess that I don't know or care enough about you to dress my opinions up as an advice. If anything, the subject itself is of more interest to me than any hope of making an impact on you, so rest assured.
[Edit: allow me to rephrase]
Whats with all this "wussy" and "man" drugs shit. What exactly does this prove? I'm obviously aware of the dangers of these endeavors, I try to minimize these by not messing with stupidly haphazard drugs, keeping myself informned, practicing moderation, and ultimately being responsible for any consequences. But when you come up with stuff along the lines of "oh you
enjoyed it? You're obviously addicted, stop now! Cause if you cant then you're fucked!" it's going to generate some roll eyes.

Someone mentioned anti-biotics... there's a drug that has the potential to do more damage to the human race than all the illegal drugs put together!
Man's been seeking altered states ever since the first cave man accidentally dropped that funny-looking plant onto the fire. It's part of our nature, and if there is a God I'm sure he meant to leave that shit lying around where we'd find it.
BUT
Ultraviolet: if you're having nagging little thoughts like that, then yeah, it might be time to think about cutting down. Alcoholism's a much more serious beast than drug addiction; it has genetic componants. People who are genetically predisposed to alcoholism have a different brain structure than others, even before they take their first drink. Add years of regular or hard drinking on top of that predisposition and you're in trouble: way beyond any notions of self-control or moderation. So check the p's, and if they're passed out in the living room, drink with caution.
Otherwise, lighten up! Life's hard, and there's a lot more to it than meets our eyes. If you don't want to go there and see it, don't. As for me I like throwing a plant on the fire now and then.

Only do drugs if you can get them free, that's why in the long run I recommend becoming a drug dealer. And be sure to work for a big organization, you want to get your hands on everything there is to experiment.

Actually, never mind at all.

I had a close friend who nearly died of an allergic reaction to a peanut.
From that day on, I vowed to become an INTERNET WARRIOR waging war against the evils of peanuts, so that nobody would ever be tempted to consume this evil food again.
Just say no to peanuts kids.
Ironically this may be the only thing you haven't crusaded over

The problem with any mind-altering drug(LSD & E, etc.) is that too much can kill you on tour first time. Especially with E. There is never a 'standard' formula for E. It is made from many different substances. However, a lot of times it will have the same ingredient to get you high that meth has. And that is some serious shit. I O.D.'d on meth once; cause a hemmorrage in my brain. I was lucky that the bleeding was very light(anytime there is bleeding in the brain it causes brain damage), I haven't any 'side-effects' from the O.D. My point, however, is that even with taking E this can happen on your first time. So, if you're gonna do, do it in small amounts and give it time to work.
With LSD, it's as risky as all that, but one thing to note is that LSD is stored in your fat cells in your body. When you burn off those fat cells, the LSD is released into your body; that's why people have flash-backs. The LSD will be stored in your fat cells from the first time you take it; and the more you do it the more you store up. So, the more you do it, the more likely you are to have flash-backs later(assuming your burn the fat cells). More than likely, it won't happen while you're driving a car, or something like that, but it could. So, it should be something to do only on an occaisonal basis. This isn't meant to "scare" anyone out of doing drugs(in fact, I'd encourage people to experiment a little), just a warning that you should keep it small at first.

Strange that you'd include LSD. On the contrary, LSD is a rather safe bet for a first trip, considering that physiological effects of an o.d. only start to appear at very, very high doses. I have yet to see a case report of human death by LSD overdose, directly caused by the respiratory troubles seen on animals at LD100 or any similar trouble.
Of course, there's no question that when od'ing on LSD you can do the worst things, but that's also true when simply tripping, and also true with any other drug. Plus, LSD doesn't seem to be an allergen (which would be logical considering the similarities with endogenous amines of the same kind).
So while I don't want to seem to be promoting LSD use, with supportive friends to watch over you (obviously friends who are
not tripping) during your experience, you don't risk much.
