We all have those days, those customers... - by 37637598

haha noob? ME? Well, if you say so... But I've had quite the weird occurances... I had a guy in a wheelchair fall asleep for like an hour in the music store. I also had a guy beat his wife... Told him to get the F out or i'd call the cops... I called em' anyway. They totally got him and the wife confirmed that he was beating her. I also had a man explaining to me that he was on the governmental "Black List" and that bush is in some secret cult and somehow is trying to fulfill hitlers dream... AND when I worked at a video rental place called Hastings, Someone crashed into the building right into the porno section! He must have just gotten out of jail and was really anxious to get a porno :p . And i had someone ask me if we {music store} were hiring and i tole him that we weren't. He then went on about how he had just gotten outta prison and needed a job to support him and his "Bitch". He actually then became a regular customer.

Yes, noob, you. :P My job has me dealing with people who THINK they're in life or death situations at every turn.
One day, at my last job (EB Games), a couple "vatos" were in the store, and one gets a phone call while the other one is checking out. The one that got the phone call is like "Oh shit..." and he turns to his friend at the register and goes "Dude... MY HOUSE JUST GOT RAIDED... Oh my god, dude, my house JUST GOT RAIDED BY THE COPS..." He repeated a few times just to make sure his friend didn't miss anything. They were both pretty stoned, I'm willing to bet.
I read a news story once about how some bitch came up to the counter at some Starbucks and expected them to patiently wait while she finished talking on her cellphone. The guy behind the counter started serving the next customers in line, who were getting pissed off at the girl anyway, and when she was off the phone, he sent her to the end of the line. Brilliance. I've had people do that to me while I was working at EB Games. They shove their merchandise across the counter and expect me to ring it up, and they don't really care if I have anything to say, because the guy behind the counter is always out to screw you out of a buck rite?

Or they want to buy the game?

They think that being conversationally available means they will get sales pitched to death. People walk up and you say something and they go "yeah fine whatever." They aren't even listening.

It's a good life if you don't break too many guitar strings. And it's a pretty good life if you do.
That's my theory, anyway.

Well, in fairness, most of them have probably been inside an EB Games store before.

In fairness, I love being judged before people even hear what I have to say just based on prior experiences with someone who was wearing a name tag.

Because some things are universal.

I get yelled at by these old people about how it's MY FAULT that the insurance company I work for doesn't cover their MOUNTAINS OF PILLS. I get yelled at about how they're going to die if they don't get their medicine. I get people trying to guilt me for things I don't even have access to override even if I wanted to. I get yelled at because they won't be able to afford groceries AND pills this month. My old people dealings are worse than yours, noob.
I don't know how you look at yourself in the fucking mirror if you work for an insurance company. They don't have anyone else to yell at because the people responsible for charging $28 per pill TO KEEP THEM ALIVE are fucking inaccessible. Change jobs.
