Ok , i have been doing allot of research on morrowind and i resently saw pics with the water all pretty and reflecty and stuff, I was just wandering how to inhance the water effects :erm: . I am using a GFORCE 2 GTS and i was wandering if there is a way to mess with those settings as well. Thanks.:thumb:

The pixel shading that the water effects take advantage of is only available on Geforce 3 and 4.

are you kidding?:grr: damnit, that really really really sucks. But i did hear that you can modify the seetings for the GForce 2 GTS for better GFX somehow....:weird:

Only the geforce 3 -chipset- .. the geforce 4 MX line uses the geforce 2 chipset, and as such does not get the cool water effects. Just thought I'd throw that in before someone buys a geforce 4 mx card and goes "WTF" .. hehe. :thumb:

You don't need a GeForce 3 or 4. You need a video card that fully supports DX8, specifically one that supports pixel shading. This is a GF3 or 4 or any of the newer Radeon boards.

If you're going to try and helpfully inform everyone who already knows (or should know -- if they do not, they deserve inferior image quality) about the GF4 MX line being weak, at least don't give out false information. Yes, it's true that they don't contain pixel or vertex shaders, but that does not mean that they use the GF2 core or architecture.
Correct me if I myself am wrong, of course, but given the performance specificiations and manufacturing specs, I don't see how they could be exactly the same.

Don't forget that the Radeon 8500 also supports pixel shaders.

He's right, Eberon, the GF4 MX series are just mildly overclocked 64-meg GF2s.
