Maybe this could fill in as the Mystery Men sequel I've been waiting for. It might be the way to go. Some of the characters are a bit amateurish after all. It's just weird seeing Rorschach gesticulate like that and look so forlorn.

While I feel no need to howl to the rafters with rage over Scot's linked clip, I've got to admit it struck me as goofy, and, well, cheap. The shared smile doesn't really bother me assuming the rest of the film supports it, and I don't find the addition of an action sequence all that troubling, but the general level of quality on display doesn't give me a whole lot of hope.

I don't know what you guys are so upset about. It looked like Hidden Turd, Crouching Diarrhea with superhero costumes. IIRC everyone around here had wood over that pos for months on end...

Ok, I just saw the rest of those clips and I'm starting to get worried.
Not that much, though. It's still just a movie. It's not like it's the last four Dark Tower books, which handily soiled the entire series.

Didn't I say something back on page 4?
But, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, Queue is
King Fuckin' Weenie for saying they need to stop turning comic books into movies, because they can't live up to everyone's overly enthusiastic expectations.
On the other hand, if Gilliam had of made this movie like he was supposed to....

Good job the comics still awesome because this film looks exactly as 'ooh, its a comic book, right?' as I would have expected it to be.

That dialogue is fairly strange in the book as well, from memory (in the lead up Drieberg even says "you know sometimes it's really hard to be your friend.' Compounding the afterschool-special-ness of the thing). It always stuck with me 'cause it seems so odd that Rorschach would even say that; is he realising he needs Dan and manipulating him or is he genuinely being friendly? Either of those seems against his character at that point, but he wasn't always that nutcase.
Probably thinking about it too much. Not everything Moore does is perfect (I'll be interested to see how they handle that 'cell door fight' in the prison. That bit does not make a lick of sense).

Hm, I seem to remember saying something back in August last year in this very thread:

And I can say with absolute certainty that there is no way in hell that a director like Zach Snider is going to create a good film out of such weighty and nuanced source material.
I would seriously have about as much faith in a Michael Bay adaption of
Lord of the Rings.
Looks like I'm not going to be proven wrong at this rate.

Oh god. Big Hollywood is a terrible place filled with whining idiot children and who have nothing but the most shallow understanding of history and current events.
Please don't link to it. Just...don't. Not even to point and laugh.
I don't want to start a huge political flame war here, but how exactly was he misinterpreting the theme of
Watchmen?
I'd always understood that both it and
V for Vendetta were meant as criticisms of the Right, and the Thatcher and Reagan administrations in particular. Heck, the president in
Watchmen was even originally supposed to be Reagan, but his publishers pressured him into switching to Nixon because they were afraid that would be just a bit too overt.
