(

Expectations appropriately metered. That was fucking terrible in absolutely every respect.
Well, the music was bad, and the bad assness was overstated, but it wasn't terrible. And I cringed a little when they grinned at each other. However: when I read the comic, I did want to see some action, some actual crimefighting by these vigilantes.
If the movie delivers on that a little, I can live with it... as long as the rest of the movie gets the fuck in line and sticks to what was awesome in the book also.
fake edit:
This scene might have been stuck in if they had to cut the part in the comic where the same pair have to beat up some thugs in an alley. They kept the action, but moved it up a bit.
This is a blockbuster movie, it's going to have to be different from the book because it's a different medium, and it has to sell itself to 12 year olds.
Oh, wait though, this is the internet, where we overstate everything. Best/worst _____ ever.

I'm being utterly honest when I say that I hated everything about that clip.
Not that I can't get hyped up. :)

That was exactly the kind of shit I was dreading when I heard Snyder was going to be helming the film. His passion for the comic seemed geniune enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt but I'm much less hopeful now. Sure it's only a clip but I think it speaks volumes about the tone the film is taking. If you were to take one of the action sequences out of 'The Dark Knight' for example you would still get a good feel for the tone from the score/editing/lighting/cinematography etc and this clip looks like it's from a film that I have no interest in seeing. I feel that Snyder has adapted 'Watchmen' to his approach rather than the other way around but I would dearly like for him to make me eat those words!

That was pretty damn awful.

I think that Nite Owl content has been removed so I did an independent search in my own time and came across (

The first clip comes across as a kind of sixth-form/high-school amateur dramatics rehearsal complete with earnest shaking of the head and the second reminds me of the beginning of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video.

jesus that first clip
wow, I think this will be a so bad it's good extravaganza

Wow, talk about genre schlock. So bad it's good? Oh gawd I don't think so.

That clip quinch found wasn't too bad. Drieberg sounded nerdy and uptight; Rorschach sounded batshit crazy. The performance is roughly on the tone of Spiderman 2 with a bit more gravitas I'd say. It might hold. I don't think the world is ready for super naturalistic performance from people in silly superhero costumes. (this discussion is exactly why Moore wanted it left as a comic, of course)
I just hate the "Legendary Look", it's all so obviously fake and cramped. I had the same problem with 300. You can play with the frame rate knob all you like Zack, it's still a bunch of people getting kicked in a small corridoor in not terribly interesting ways, from not terribly interesting camera angles.
Hopefully it ends up like V for Vendetta and they throw in a bit of action here to have something for the trailer, but it's not the whole show and they don't stick it in everywhere.
