Well to be fair the X-Mas date is a pagan date, but easter for example is tied to the jewish passover and the romans persecuted the early christians.

The name Easter comes from Ostara or Eostre who was possibly a germanic goddess. It's also been suggested that the association of eggs/chicks and rabbits with Easter could come from fertility rituals around the time of the spring equinox.
