Now that I've finally got a computer (aka MAH RIG) capable of doing so, I figured it was time to try my hand at this whole let's play thing. I decided to make my first test Dirt Rally, cuz it's pretty damn good, and I like it. Though I'd get in there, kick some road butt, and post the video up for everyone to see, and me to crow over.
...and I FUUHHHKKKED UP. I mean it's not an easy game. I've only managed to get a podium position in career mode twice now. Unlike most racing games I'm used to, this one has you slipping, sliding, grinding, and drifting all over the place. You only have so much control over your car. One mistake, and you're screwed. Hell, I have yet to make a successful hairpin turn using the e-break, and that's usually the easiest thing to do in a game. To make matters even worse, I blew out my front tire, and could barely control the car for crap. I eventually gave up, because driving something on loose gravel that always wants to shift violently to the left on you is pretty damn impossible. It was terrible and embarrassing.
But I wanted to make this my first posted video, and by god, it's gonna be my first posted video. So here. Enjoy

What's even more tragic is right after uploading this, I raced that track again, and did it almost perfectly. Of course I didn't record it.
Also, how do I post 1080p 60FPS? Do I have to submit so many videos or what?

And now to save some face with a halfway decent run! Only three screwups, and only one of them dumb. Though to my benefit, it's because the damn stupid ass reverse button didn't work.

Still no 60 FPS option. YOUTUBE! I DID EVERYTHING I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO!

What's your Steam username?
Renzatic on 14/5/2015 at 04:29
Considering you just added me, I guess you already know.
...but to be on the safe side, it's Renzatic.

Yeah I guess that was kinda obvious huh.
Renzatic on 14/5/2015 at 04:38
Considering how just about everyone else gets all crazy with their user names around here, you really never know.

Since it looks like you're using a wheel, there is one fairly nasty bug you might want to know about. The game doesn't correctly apply your linearity/deadzone/etc settings unless you pause/continue after the stage starts. I usually do it right after he says '5', although you need to make sure you still have the handbrake held after you hit continue. Long story short, if the cars feel really twitchy it's probably because of that bug. It's also possible the bug isn't affecting you for some reason, but it seems like everyone I've talked to is experiencing the same thing.

I'm actually using a 360 pad (though I would consider a wheel for this game), and other than reverse seeming to take a bit to kick in, the controls seem fine to me.

Have you come around on this one Jason? I seem to remember you being a bit underwhelmed with it when you first played it.
I still haven't bought it, but Renz' videos makes it look pretty damn tasty. Those stages are very nice.

Looks fun. I would have probably written it off after playing even a little Dirt3 made me feel so cold and empty inside.
