what has more potential...
warrior or mage...or warrior/mage combo
be specific

Almost ceratinly a warrior-mage combo... a pure mage is a lot tougher to play than a sword slinging knight (magic skills increase harder, destruction spells not as efficent as a good long blade skill, IMHO, etc).
On the other hand, while a warrior is pobably going to excel in combat, he or she will likely fall short in situations which require more brain over brawn (there are some places where melee just isn't enough).
So, I suggest a warrior/mage hybrid (doesn't have to be a battlemage), because you'll be recieving all the practical advantages of magic, while at the same time holding enough weapon and armor skills so that you don't need to rely only on spellcasting.
My second char had destruction, alteration, and mysticism as major skills, in addition to enchant, alchemy, and conjuration as minor skills. Everything else was combat-oriented. Turned out to be a very powerful combo: even though I used combat a bit more than magic, both types of skills increased at about the same rate, since I had put the magic oriented skills in the big slots. Really practical, and really poweful: the difficulty slider was at 100 before I reached lvl. 30.

yes, exactly. this is the reason i didnt want to be a mage...because magika depletes so fast...and its hard to live without it....

could you elaborate on your skills and choices a little more?

I agree with a warrior/mage combo is the best.
I remember my 1st char, a full combat oriented character. Then I walked into a cave and fell down a rig. There was no way to get up again, unless I had a levitation or recall or something like that. I didn't had all of them so i was stuck there.
After this I started a new char that used magic and combat. Now I am a realy strong lvl 58 warrior with good magic skills.

I am now Battlemage, which gives me what seems like a good balance of main skills. Much better than my frickin' bard, anyway :)

not like others posted, im pure warrior style
since my first character was mage-warrior
i've got decide to choose warrior one
in battle case, there's no more worry about
in normal level, if you reach around level 15 when you heat anything about 2 or 3 hits
everything is down (with deadric sword)
and if you reach above level 20 and gain some good equipment, you will get anything blow out even if its 100 difficulty sets
in healing parts, you can get some good shirts and pants with regeneration (4-5 points per second)
so good using with very potion. its no more worry about too
so look other things
in doors unlocking? you can get some good scroll : ondusi's hinging (around any cave/dungeon)
if you travel further more, may be you can get some 100 unlocking scrolls and even 100 unlock enchanter ring (you can enchant/purchase it mage-guild)
and anything travelling
flying - potion or enchant item is good
long distance move - use intervention, recall or scroll of 500 levitation (though its limited)
and.. hmm i think i fulfills almost requirments of the character
warrior is good

be specific It depends on what you mean by potential. If it is potential for fun then Morrowind mage is the novelity to me. If you are talking about potential to stand a face to face fight then warrior is your man/girl. But if you are talking about making profit then nobody beats a wizrad. This guy is still the best assassin in town and i havent fint anyone with arguments to convince me that stealth characters are better.

Not sure how a mage would have been any better in that situation, it sounds like you just weren't prepared. I mean you could have a mage and simply not have gotten around to buying a levitation, jump, or mark/recall spells and you'd still be stuck.
I think mages really get the shaft in this game, as you get higher in the game opponents become tougher but the spells needed to kill them become so much more expensive to cast that they're hardly worth it. When I play as a fighter of some kind and I'm busy looting a tomb or shrine and I run into unfriendlies I'm usually less worried when they turn out to be mages. They'll throw a couple of feeble spells at me and then run out of mana and charge me with some dinky weapon.
I wonder if there are any plugins out there that support hardcore spellcasting because it's pretty clear that Morrowind does not. :grr:

I won't read anything else but the title.
A warrior mage combo is the most powerful, the term 'Battlemage' naturally.
However, base most of your abilities as a warrior, about 95% of your combat should be non-magic based /grin
