Hi guys
Has anyone here seen 'Wanted'? I couldn't help but think they took some serious inspiration from Thief and assassins creed?
Its got the killing of the assassins mixed with the plot line of thief where the keepers end up being the things that need re balancing, except in this the item of prophecy is a weave, and it points its fingers towards the assassins who kill the people the weave names. Just like the glyphs point to the bretheren and betrayer. There are other aspects like the 'chosen one' destroying the bretherens power and whatnot.
Anyway, overall I thought it was a poor film myself, but did anyone else have similiar thoughts?

Actually, they took most of their inspiration from the graphic novel, Wanted.

Ummmmm...
No.
Psychic bullet-time assassins have very little to do with Thief, as far as I'm concerned.

Overall I thought you just spoilt the movie
in your first post in the only thread about it.
You utter, utter,
utter tard.
You've been here long enough to know better.

Looked that up, and the comics seem to have a lot less of the elements I seemed to see. Although I think I might check them out since they were written only a few years ago so they could still take something from the 90's games and other such things.
Have you read them? are they any good?
I forgot about the spoiler thing, have not posted in a while:( apologies

While they based the movie on the graphic novel, they apparently changed the majority of the story.
One of the main criticisms is that they made the main character far less amoral.
The whole, 'kill one person, save a thousand', really doesn't play into the characters' motivations in the books.

The graphic novel got optioned and they started writing the script right after the first issue came out, and the studio didn't want the superhero/villain shit or Wes to be (technically) a bad guy. The thematic meat of the story is Wes learning not to be a tool for other people, though, and from what I gather that holds true in the film. Guess I'll find out this weekend.

Mmm, the comics are all about strapping young White Hope Wesley learning to wantonly rape and murder so he won't be used by his African-American boss and slutty Asian girlfriend, or bullied by the Latino gangs, and haha we're not being racist, homophobic or misogynistic at all, honest. It's ironic, see. And it's full of really clever meta-commentary like renaming known villain things like Johnny Two-Dicks, Fuckwit and Shithead. Goodness, we're outclassing Watchmen here, so full of pure clever is Mark Millar. So clever he deserves nothing more than to drown in my bile.

The comic is simply fantastic. It's a very good material for a movie too, which means they'll completely fuck it up.
I would also like to point out that Morte has no idea what he's talking about whatsoever.
