I heard that this movie is dangerous.
It will turn your children into homosexuals !

The environmental-PC fad is getting old. We had one of these things in the early 90s too, and everyone hated it then also.
Yeah, yeah, we get it. Burning hydrocarbons is bad for the environment. We get it already. You don't have to bash us in the head with it. So why don't the enviro-crazies let us build nuclear plants then, hmm? Why won't they let us refine coal into a clean automobile fuel? Do they really want us to "go green" or are they just saying that as long as they can sell carbon credits and get rich?
Sounds to me like the enviro-crazies are just another special interest group, "specially interested" in making money off fear.
Give us a fucking alternative and we'll use it. Stop fucking complaining without contributing, fuckhampers.

This is a thread about a movie.

I read a comment somewhere that Wall-E looks a little too similar to Johnny-5. I'd have to agree, even the poster reminds me of the Short-Circuit one. Maybe there's someone at Pixar who grew up on the Short-Circuit movies like I did.

Best Pixar film next to The Incredibles, and yes, Finding Nemo was incredibly ham-fisted and gooey. Also, best film I've seen all year, with Iron Man in a close second.

I'm seeing this film as soon as its deigned appropriate for british eyes, looks great. Is the animation noticably better than previous? I heard they did all sorts of fancy stuff with crowd scenes etc (trying to work out how that fits with post-apocalyso, but hey).

I like how you make it sound like scientists are stopping you personally from building a nuclear power plant or refining coal as if you would have a fucking clue how to, you goon.

Erm...yeah, the crowd scenes were a bit meh IMO. Effort not worth the result but it doesn't detract from the film in the least.

Can't wait for this one now. It wasn't really on my radar before, aside from being HOLY SHIT NEXT PIXAR MOVIE, though I thought they were definitely being daring with the whole lack of dialogue thing. Now it's stacking up behind Dark Knight as my next must-see.
I've just got to pipe up in defence of Finding Nemo though, it's a great kid's movie, yes, sappy and sentimental but it's also got a few really nice things in the mix.

I'd actually rank it above The Incredibles for Pixar movies. And ever so slightly below The Iron Giant in animated films overall.

I didn't mean to knock Nemo - it's great for what it is, but whereas most Pixar films are a great mix of adult and kid humor, Nemo was probably their most kid-targeted work in terms of plot and 'oh wow' moments.
