Here in the OOS SAH, Sci-fi channel is running a mini-series called "The Dark Kingdom".
Not bad, but they use a lot of hype in the trailers and ads, but fail to mention that it is Ziegfried/Siegfried from Wagner's Ring of the Niebelungen.
I guess they think that most of the viewers have never heard of Wagner, Opera, or the Ring cycle.
So if you are a fan of the Ring cycle, you might give it a look.
Both parts one and two run back to back tonight.
Too much un-necessary bedroom antics for me, but the storyline is not badly done, given the "poetic" and "artistic" liberties.

The wedding is planned for June. :)

The origin of the Niebelungenlied is not Wagner.
Most of the advertising made mention of "Before the Chronicles of Narnia, and The Lord of the Rings." but otherwise they were pretty vague about what myth it was based on. I missed part II since I had to work OT, but, knowing the Sci-Fi Channel, they'll rerun it six or seven times this week, then once a month for the next year, then every six months until the end of time.

True, the myth itself is much older. I read a good translation a few weeks ago. But most associate it with the Wagnerian opera.
Heard from the "Mouser" lately? Or is he off on one of his solo rampages. :)
I "Captured" the entire 4 plus hours today. I'll edit it down and see if I can burn it on a DVD for later consumption without all the commercials.
Not badly done, but as you say, they really gave short shrift to the actual legend they were portraying.
Same thing with The thirteenth warrior no mention of Beowulf.
