Checked out the new Oliver Stone movie tonight. Thandie Newton's Condoleeza Rice was a joke, but the rest of the cast was pretty stellar. I was hoping for more of a bashing of Bush (most of the bite goes to Cheney, and rightfully so I suppose), but you really just leave just feeling sort of sad for Bush (you're left with the metaphor of an outfielder in baseball waiting for a ball that never comes, his moment in the spotlight never coming). I was definitely left wanting more from the film, have any of you seen it?

My basic thinking is it was a little too ham-handedly a movie to release before an election, rather than a broader vision of who W is and what he did that could have been done in another 5 or 10 years from now, with more distance. But for what it was it did its job, and what points it did make were more or less on mark, and there were good portrayals for most of the cast -- Poppy, Rove, Laura -- though Powell was too softfoot, Cheney a little too caricatured, and Rice, like you say, an unconvincing hiccup.

See I've been watching this movie for like eight years and I don't think I like it very much

Is this the one with Jim Carrey and Whoopi Goldberg?
