Usually texture packs doesnt replace every single texture so there's always those places that sticks out like sore thumb, a 128x182 texture next to a 1024x1024 texture is never going to look good, it's just something you accept when running texture packs. And yes it's a lot harder to create a texture pack for the OM's, ofcourse. But I guess most comes down to how open minded the player is. The long-time hardcore fans are obviously almost impossible to satisfy, change the hue slighltly of 1 texture and you've ruined the whole atmosphere of the game :cheeky: It will get better though, from experience of years of modding different games i know i usually end up closer to the original feel than how it looked in the begining where i usually tend to drift off a bit.
That's true, but at least you're acknowledging that something may not look right and then changing it. I guess part of the problem with your posts is your posting "work in progress" shots, and we're critiquing them as is, not realizing that you are planning on changing them. At least, that's how I felt about it. Now if you're wanting us to critique them then that's a different story.
But yeah, I suppose it's best to do what you want and if it doesn't please the "hardcore" players then oh well. They can just stick to their original textures.;)

It's an honor to see a legend from the Morrowind modding community grace us with his presence!!

@ ricnor *blushes*
@ sNeaksieGarrett Well I guess i have a tendency of seeing all the things i do as "final" while i deep inside know its most likely
not final and that i will change my mind a redo the model 5 more times, at least. I might also be a bit too defensive sometimes, but as you probably understand i put a lot of time into these sort of things so it's easy to get rather defensive of what you do. I guess i'm also spoiled with the Morrowind community where anything that changes the mood (even into the extreme) is often welcomed. But i'll adapt :p
One thing that is pretty cool is how we now can use transparency. For example adding it to a keyhole so you can peek through it:

But... we've always been able to do that.
In either old or new Dark, using texture transparency to see "through" a model will usually look weird, and should be done by modeling an actual hole in the model.

yes a model would look better, though it would require a lot more poly's and a lot more work, but i'm all for it if someone is up for the task to replace every door and lock model ;) And you're right there was transparency with the old formats too when i think of it, though there's more control with a proper alpha channel.

Heheh, the prospect of more FMs involving the T2X-esque (Well, you know what I sorta mean) peaking into the keyholes of doors, just sounds all the more feasible now. :cheeky:

what exactly is displayed on the weapon case?

Short swords and crossbow bolts?
would be fun to make in full 3D, i need to practice doing weapons. If you happen to find a good reference image of something very similar to what is displayed please post it :)

Swords and daggers I believe.
