I second that. They look like conical bits of compressed foam, formed into a blob of stalactites. The icicles, that is. :p

If you want to help out and have a save near icicles or lava it's of great help to me. I'm trying to both play and mod, but i usually tend to get stuck with modding for hours instead of playing. Played some last night (first 2 levels, took me ages on Hard lol) and realised I enjoy it more these days than i did when it was new :)

(with an env_map possibly)...
Wait. Thief can do environment maps? Like cube maps and all that good stuff? I didn't think that was possible.

it seems fitting that the gems were naturally formed, pulled from the earth already in their octahedral shape
Assuming that these are supposed to be rubies - which are actually just red sapphires - they should be hexagonal and not octahedral, if the intent is to make them look natural.

Umm... uncut gemstones tend to be in the shape of a rock, no matter what their underlying atomic structure.
Besides, we're talking about about mystical Trickster gems here, which could be literally anything.

I would go with the shape of that rough one ZB posted.

I'd go with something shaped like the original, all rubys aren't hexagonal prisms. Uncut stones for the pagans of course. Something like the one ZylonBane posted or this:

Uncut gems show their atomic structure. Even rock shows it's atomic structure, it's just normally too fine grained to see much.

Really? The one in that pic didn't have much of a defined shape at all, I thought.
I would think that, given its role in the game (activating the portal), it should definitely look like a deliberately formed artifact, not just a blob of red rock.
