I think the pterodactyls was the only one. The lag was so bad you didn't dare try to look around, which frankly ruins the experience right off the bat, but the tunnel vision meant that you pretty much had to look around to have any situational awareness. The technology is much better this time around.

I was converted from a VR skeptic to a VR believer last year at PAX East after getting to play Elite and EVE: Valkyrie on Oculus headsets. However, I'm concerned that the high price of the VR rig combined with the high price of a system capable of running it combined with the limited applications (I've heard people tend to get motion sickness in FPSes) may prevent VR from achieving the widespread adoption it will need to really impact the industry. Unlike a peripheral like the Novint Falcon or TrackIR, VR headsets seem to require games to be specifically designed and developed with them in mind, so I fear we might see a cycle of low initial VR adoption -> developers can't make a justifiable business case for the expense of supporting VR -> nobody buys VR because mainstream AAA games don't support it.

Eh, I don't really want to spend the money on it (+ planning a move soon so not the best time to be acquiring new tech gadgets or desktop). Don't want to shell out on early-adopter-v1. And we're not running out of of great non-VR games anyway.
I'd probably be more interested in using VR at a friend's place or an arcade than my own home tbh.
And I still think it will be a niche thing. I can see AR having a much bigger appeal and social impact in the long run.

I think you'd hit on my main feeling of scepticism Koob - I find the idea of VR very cool, but I've yet to be in a situation where I've wished that I had more than a large monitor.

So, it seems that Oculus added Switzerland to the list of preorder countries... without telling anyone. I've found them out, though, so I gave them a taste of their own medicine by ordering an Oculus Rift. Ha ha!
Since I won't get mine before July, I still have the option to cancel and go for the Vive after reviews for both have come out. Or to decide that I'm not enough of an early adopter to go for the first generation of consumer versions. (Who am I kidding...)

I love how she tries to cover her eyes with her hands, but it doesn't work because she's wearing goggles...
