You don't "taste" the liqour, you taste the mixer. Jack Daniels Black, Vodka straight from the freezer to the glass, Quality Tequila, and others straight, no mix have thier own unique flavor.
I don't give a rats ass about "why" you drink. But if you don't like the taste of the "base" why not use Everclear, and get the buzz without the waste of good liquor and expense.

You've apparently never had a correctly mixed mixed-drink, then. Yes, the flavor and the quality of the alcohol do come through, making a Captain and Coke taste differently than a Bundy and Coke. A Coconut Rum and Dr. Pepper is different than a Jack and Dr. Pepper. You can tell when a White Russian is made with cheap vodka or quality. So yes, it is about the flavor. I enjoy Jack Daniel's straight, but I also love whiskey sours and Jack and Coke. Does that make me less of a connoisseur, as I would dare sully the taste of alcohol with something else? Does that mean that mixing two liquers is out? I don't see the point in getting all high horse about people drinking what they believe tastes good.

a) That shit does not appear in your local shop in England at least
b) It's 75% - 95% according to Wikipedia, Jesus CHRIST man, we just want to get drunk, not kill ourselves flat out in one sitting?
c) Everclear is a shit band

Sorry about (A) as for (B), use less when you make your mix. At 90 Proof *45% alcohol* if you use two ounces of whatever, just use one ounce or less of EC. :)
You can still get wasted. Or use the same proportions you usually do and don't waste half the night getting "there". :D :ebil:
