I always hear people complaining about Vivec (the city) and I was wondering how many of you actually like or dislike Vivec, personally I love it. Ok its big and can be confusing but once you get use to it then it is easy to find your way around in good time and there is lots of interlinking quests between Vivec and ebonheart which can be hard to find but it just means you are always finding more. For example, the telivanni enchanter quest, you go the the telivanni compound and eventually you hear a rumour that the enchanter is having trouble with rats, you fix this problem which then activates a quest in Ebonheart for the east empire company. Or you deliver a letter in Ebonheart and that activates a quest in Vivec. I love it because it has non guild related quests which seem less linear but of course across Vivec and ebonheart there is quests for every guild (though only for the higher levels of theives guild). Sure its big and relatively empty but it still has more than anywhere else and it is just big and empty because it is a declining city no longer the heart of Vvardenfall.
Conclustion: Vivec (city not god) PWNs YOU! :p

When I first saw this city, I was reminded of Venice, Italy (not that I've been there). I still love the design and seem to find new things all the time like you say. The last was the Telvanni monster lab. That was funny to me.
It's true this layout offers more appealing uses for otherwise empty rooms. For example, Vivic has the best solution, IMO, for housing lots of people. It's like a bee hive.

Vivec is a right royal pain in the arse to navigate, and that's even without the falling-through-floors bug (man, the number of times I've found myself unexpectedly swimming underneath the cantons doesn't bear thinking about).
Also, the Ordinators suck (Hey, wha, you once wore our sacred shoulder pauldron, you must DIE!!!) and Vivec himself is an overblown jerk. You can tell its construction was some big cosmic joke.
No doubt its an efficient layout for housing lots of people, but like high-rise apartment buildings, it's ugly to look at and no doubt causes its unfortunate inhabitants to suffer from Sick Building Syndrome.
So, not keen :p.

ack, damn, I thought this was about the god. When I first started the game, knowing nothing about it other than it being open ended, I went to vivec, as a thief, and went rampant on stealing everything I could see. It was a good time. I ended up learning vivec really fast and didn't even have to leave before hitting something like level 30. Then I got afraid to leave because I figured if vivec was this big, than the rest of the world would be damn near impossible to navigate... But I loved it... and unfortunately voted no because I thought you were talking about the god and his tendencies to be a general ass hole and manipulative prick all around

the only thing that vivec's good for is to train ur atlethic skill: jumping from canton to canton, jumping up the stairs

I've always found Vivec as a city to be disappointing. I'll avoid it as much as possible.

I, too, thought this thread concerned the god and not the city. There seems to be a lot of debate on whether Vivec is good or evil. I personally side with him - I think Vivec is a God trying to do good. He knows his power is great and that he must sacrifice popularity to do his job. Vivec is still an eloquent and well-versed NPC, worthy of my respect. After all, it gets lonely at the top.

Well I thought about making it clear in the title by calling it Vivec: City or sh*ty but I didn't think the mods/admins would appreciate that. But it will all just teach you to read a thread before posting.
