I'm surprised nobody picked this one up yet.
This guy is great, and hes got some good games on here that even I've played back in elementry school. Anyway a few weeks ago I found his site and he mentioned he was doing an SS2 walkthough.. well I guess hes done now.. pretty sweet.. Looks like He's using rebirth.

Schweet! To bad I can't play SS2 on my XP. And yes, I check out that thread specifying the errors and solutions of playing SS2 on newer computers. :tsktsk:

Funny thing is i have no problems at all.
Just so long as you set your affinity to one processor every time you play.
but thats only if you're got a multi core or hyperthreading proc

Windows is a shite operating system. Every install gives me a different set of problems. In regards to SS2, I've gone from having to use -lgntforce, to no problems whatsoever, to not being able to install at all due to the installer giving me some waitondialog() error.

Yeah, well guess what? I don't :( So i just have to right click the icon and set the compatability, and that bs doesn't work. I even have to put in a texture manager code so it doesn't crash on me, and that doesn't work either. :nono:

As far as I know, setting compatibility settings makes it crash more.
It's CPU affinity you want to change. Check the FAQ in ShockGen.

Do you have patience for that? :o
It only took me a few exe runs before I started searching for ways to change the affinity permamently. And found ImageCfg, I use it for many older games that hate HT/X2 processors.

I guess I am patient..
except for the times I forget to do it... cause then It crashes and I can't do anything. I have to hit the reset button because nothing will work. no end task or anything.
Windows is Shite... you're right. But its better than Mac and way more user friendly than Unix.
(I know its a matter of opinion, personally i wish windows was more like the Mac OS. just not totally like it)

What exactly is bad about Windows? (95 and ME I can understand, but XP?) The 3 years I have used XP, I have never had a single problem with it. I guess I just know what I'm doing.
Anyways, you should make permament change to the affinity header, then you can run the game and go straight to action without needing to go to the task manager first.

Oh I
see. It's my inexperience with the operating system that's causing the System Shock 2 installer to error out every time.
