My problem is similar with this one : (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127724)
I wanted to play again the Thief serie. So first, I installed Thief 1 on my computer, and it didn't worked. So I checked the forums, the FAQ, try many patchs, and at the end I was able to play.
I played, finished the game again, and now time for Thief 2. Install, error, "Thief2.exe cannot run...". This is what I did for the moment :
- Install > error
- Apply DDfix > error
- Uninstall, Reinstall with -lgnt > error
- Apply DDfix > error
- Turn on 98, XP compatibility. Check the three last boxes. The screen fades to black for a second, but error anyway
- Try the Premier patch : nothing (I have a french version of the game, already patched : none of the files of the patch was different from the original)
I checked the forum, the FAQ, but I don't get the error. Maybe someone have a better idea ?
For information : I was able to play Thief 1 (but I forgot what I did. In fact, it didn't worked without some modifications). I run on Vista 32 Premium, with a Intel Centrino (Core2 Duo), and a nVIDIA Geforce 8600M GS.
And I'm one of those guys who think Thief 2 is better than Thief 1 ^^' so I hope something can be done, except installing a virtual win98 :weird:
Thanks for the help.

Anything I do, when I launch the game, the second after I have the Windows popup "Thief2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I have not an error when It'm trying something, but trying to launch.

do me a favour and check the paths in your install.cfg and darkinst.cfg are correct...

They are. Just to be sure, I changed some letters to upppercase to be exactly the same as my computer path.
