Hi, I have an Asus G50V laptop with the RealTek HD Audio sound chip, but none of my games allow me to use EAX/3D sound. Is there a way to fix this? I heard somewhere that Vista doesn't play well with 3d sound in games.

Due to architecture changes in Vista, EAX effects and 3D surround sounds are disabled for DirectSound 3D games.
But according to Realtek their ALC888 series chipset is compatible with EAX Direct Sounds and 3D High Definition Audio codecs.
What is your Reralteck chipset?

this is the 82801I chip. Maybe I will have to install XP on this machine. My cheap-o netbook can do 3D sound, but this $1k laptop can't. hahaha

Wow this *REALLY* pisses me off. The 3D Soundback utility does absolutely nothing, and seeing as how it has remained at Beta 0.1, I doubt this will change. Because of the content industry and their bullshit, I can no longer enjoy my games properly on my hardware. This is one more reason I will buy all my music used from now on to avoid funding these bastards.
I thought Linux was the only platform around with broken sound... guess I was wrong.
