Vista 64 bit 4-core Thief 2. Game OK but menu mouse restriction - by Fidcal

I've done the hyperthread fix using the desktop shortcut method and it seems I can play OK - leastways several minutes test seems OK. But on return to the menus the mouse works but is limited to the top left quarter. Looks like a screen res mixup so maybe the res is 1280 x instead of its expected 640 x (I think I've set 1600 x in the game) Problem is I can't reach some of the options of course. The menu works normally when I first launch Thief, it is only once the game is running and I return to the menus.
Is this a known problem? And is there a fix? Been googling through ttlg but can't find anything on this.

Update: this is clearly the mouse being restricted to a 640/N proportion of the desktop res. Before I had 1680 x desktop and I could only access about 640/1680 of the screen. I just temporarily changed my desktop to 800 x and I couild access 640/800 of the menu! My desktop won't go down to 640.

Now videos don't work so I can't play new games and the game is crashing as well anyway. I give up on this. Back to my old slow XP machine.

It's pitty that you couldn't run Thief 2 on your new PC with Vista :(. Have you tried to copy a Thief 2 folder from your XP PC to the Vista one? BTW, is your mouse a usual one or something special with its own software?
