Wow! Really cool info. Thank you for the detailed write-up! It's nice seeing the history of this. That really sucks about the MSI twist.
But, hmm, I have some MSI stuff, I should look to see if I have the correct hardware. I don't have VR headset yet, but working to acquire one of the earlier Meta Quests, which probably won't work for much other than Meta-specific apps.
When you talk about playing Thief in VR back in the day, I wonder if that was with those old nVidia 3D VR glasses. I seem to recall someone posting about how they played Thief with them and saying it worked surprisingly well!
I really wish and hope I can play Thief in VR someday. It really seems like it would be amazing to experience, even if it is just getting to walk around the levels and snagging some loot here and there

Thanks! The journey doesn't seem to fun or promising at the moment. The web page design for that site is pretty bad, and is littered with broken images and possibly outdated info. I tried to ask them if I'm eligible by filling out a web form, but that was a futile effort. The form wouldn't submit and gave me no clear explanation why it wouldn't. I'll try to chat or call them maybe sometime

I don't recall if I've mentioned it before (probably have), but I did this back in the early 2000s and it was very cool, but not perfect. The glasses I had didn't have perfect shutters, so there was a little bit of ghosting of the other eye's view in each eye - not much, but enough to be slightly annoying. But in general, it worked GREAT to me, fully 3D environment, very cool, very immersive. But I had to hold still and look straight ahead, otherwise it would feel weird to try to look around but not have the view move. And it was a little weird to move the mouse to move the view and suddenly my view was moved, sorta like I was in this world where my mouse movement would MOVE THE WORLD all around! But I still loved it.

the smell generator was already done with the chemical spritzer thing the tv once had, it used combinations of chemicals to create smells of what was shown on a tv add, but never made it to masses, but it was made in prototype and worked, all you needed was the chemical break down of what ever you wanted the people to smell
but the smells in thief over all would be terrible , burricks/zombies/etc the only saving grace would be Christine's sweets/cakes :P

Just putting this out there, there is a Dark Mod VR branch if you want something that was built from the ground up to support VR:
(

Currently works with version TDM 2.10. I'm not sure when a 2.11 version will arrive.

Thanks for the link, nbohr1more. Whenever I get VR headset, I will definitely be trying it :)
That's awesome, Komag! Wish I could've experienced Thief in VR at some point :D
Thief with a scent generator? No thank you, lol. Don't guards say stuff like, "*SNIFF* *SNIFF* Eww, what's that smell??! Smells like old meat"... which I always took it to them smelling Garrett nearby. Plus, the sewers. Ugh :P
