Oh man, last I heard 22 dead. :( My thoughts and prayers are with their families. RIP.

AP is reporting 31, others are reporting 21.
Why students? Yes, why anybody, but why students?

I just watched the cell phone video taken by a student. I'm going to have nightmares tonight. My mind is having trouble wrapping itself around this; I just keep asking why?

There's got to be more to this that what's been reported so far. One guy armed with two handguns gets 31 dead in two separate incidents that take place two hours apart? I'm really having a hard time getting my head around that.

What a disaster

God, this is really shit for the people involved. You don't expect this to happen when you go there to study. Poor people, there must be a lot of traumatised kids out there.

I think he shot some people and then fled. The cops were still looking for him two hours later. When he started shooting again, they closed in very quickly.

Not too fucking quickly, I'd say.

Kristyn Heiser said she was in class about 9:30 a.m. when she and her classmates saw about six gun-wielding police officers run by a window.
"We were like, 'What's going on?' Because
this definitely is a quaint town where stuff doesn't really happen. It's pretty boring here," said Heiser during a phone interview as she sat on her classroom floor.

The shootings came three days after a bomb threat Friday forced the cancellation of classes in three buildings, WDBJ in Roanoke reported.
Also, the 100,000-square-foot Torgersen Hall was evacuated April 2 after police received a written bomb threat, The Roanoke Times reported.
Last August, the first day of classes was cut short by a manhunt after
an escaped prisoner was accused of killing a security guard at a Blacksburg hospital and a sheriff's deputy. Two bomb threats in the last 14 days, and a whole 8 months since the last multiple murder - real fucking quaint and boring that!

You can shut the fuck up now, Stronts. This is not the time for your 'wit.'
So. I can safely say today was totally fucking terrifying. Especially when I tried to go to class this morning and was jumped by two swat members and four other officers and immediately told to get the hell out of dodge. At the time, since the university is a little slow in getting their announcements out, I was still under the impression that classes were still running.
My class was in Hancock. That's about 30 yards from Norris, where the second shooting spree occured. I can't say I'm very comforted to know that I was within shooting range less than ten minutes before the second shooting started.
I know at least one of my friends has a class in there. I don't know his phone number, so at the moment I'm not certain whether he's one of the 30.
I used to live in the dorm where this all started, too...
