I bet I was in the running (not now). It wasn't any really serious qualms, I was just really digging the ascetic lifestyle at the time.
Extenuating circumstances intervened when I saw 2 skyscrapers disintegrating 15 blocks in front of me on 9/11. Understandably, I thought screw this ... life is too short, and had sex within a few days (with a girlfriend). You can count the difference between my birth year (in my profile) and 2001 if you gossiping ninnies are that interested in exactly how old I was.
I'm happy to say it was pretty life-affirming, though, which I think not everybody can say about their first time.
