Agreed, this actually is pretty cool! Is the minigame the same one as the hacking in the final product, do we know? 'Cause if it is, there may be just a slight chance that I'll end up not hating it entirely. Well, right off the bat I can say it was miles better than plumbing.
Looking over the other names, we may have an interesting marketing campaign ahead of us, though it remains to be seen if they do end up filling all the domains. And it looks like they're taking steps to not inconvenience any government agencies, like Ion Storm got with UNATCO back in the day.

I agree with you guys. The site is well made, almost looks like it could belong to a legitimate bio-tech firm. Music is pretty cool, and the aesthetic of the website, though vaguely Assassin's Creed menu-ish (not that I have a problem with it), is still appealing. I have to say, whether or not this game is a worthy successor/continuation of the Deus Ex universe, I am at least convinced it will be a pretty good game on it's own. It seems to have a modicum of depth that has been lacking in recent productions.
I think considering the trend of making games with the L.C.D. in mind in the last 8 or so years, this is probably as deep as anything first person will get unless, God willing, a whole bunch of old-school developers rally together to form a new independent studio, though the realities of the market probably would smother that idea quickly. Back to the game and it's potential, I'll reserve judgment until it comes out. But I'm cautiously optimistic about at least getting a decent game experience out of it. Hope they come out with a demo soon.

Yeah that minigame wasn't bad. Sure it's basically just Pac-Man, but hey Pac-Man is fun! :D

independence day had an awesome website and art departement (storyboards/creature design). all I'm saying to that interactive flash monster. I never was somebody for this kind of marketing and sideline-stuff. But If I could browse this website in the game using news-stands everywhere in the street..... Now THAT would be something I think is cool.

That is a very cool viral site. The dates and revisionist history made me look twice though.
I dled all 4 datapods and they are all different even thought the text when you click on each one is the same.

I'm with you on the history issue. Especially considering 2007 has already passed, and news stories like augmented athletes winning in the Olympics is kinda off putting, since obviously we have yet to see something like that happen (be pretty cool, though). If anything, they should have established all this in maybe 2015 or something like that. That leaves approximately 12 years 'til the beginning of the game for the tech in game to become as advanced as it is, without trying to make it seem like it's been around since back in the day, or rather under significant development. I'm not sure, but I don't recall DX mentioning such an early date for the utilization of mech augs. Granted, this game is technically a "not-prequel prequel", and they're pretty much doin' their own thing, but still...

Some of the news items from years that have already passed are actually (mostly) true. Oscar Pistorious broke the 100M record
for amputees in 2007, the IAAF banned the use of prostheses in able-bodied competitions in 2008, and the CAS overruled that decision later in 2008.
You can learn about Oscar (
http://www.ossur.com/?PageID=13008) here and (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Pistorius) here.
The Sarif site doesn't technically specify what world record was broken in 2007, and Oscar's time wasn't all that far behind the able-bodied world record (in fact, he's closer to the fastest women than the women are to the men).
