@klatremus: About closing Main Gate: you put crate on hangar door on starting area side, go to switch to close it and rush to this gate. Meanwhile crate is blocking hangar door from closing too fast. And it's visible that it clipped into hangar door and spin weirdly before dropping down. Isn't crate's clipping into hangar door an exploit?

if you want to use the vanilla levels you should at least apply the required DML fixes to restore loot to the correct co-ordinates. before tfix came about I used the kidnap fix from this site: (

now we can just use DML fixes - which are more trustworthy than random exe's from internet sites.

But loot is in correct places in last official version of Thief 2 1.18. So no need for dml fixes for that reason. 1.18 version can be easily found in the internet.

@Galaer: Blocking of doors or gates have never been considered exploits, so I honestly assumed it wasn't. This door is a bit different because it swings shut instead of going up-down or sideways, so the item goes on top. It gets wedged between the door and the frame yes, but that seems to me the same as a potion or scroll being able to stop a door, which is also quite illogical, but has been done many times before. I think it's ok, but I'm open for other interpretations. If you'd like to discuss it more, please post in the ghost discussion thread.
@lordhern: I decided to play fully vanilla in my segmented series. I didn't know the official 1.18 release had that loot item fixed. I use the clean install from my original CD for that playthrough. The only thing I do is apply NewDark. I always played 1.18 in the past but remember that item being missing before. I had to apply Tafferpatcher before NewDark came around for that diamond to be present.
