I don't know if those videos exist. Doesn't DOSBox have the ability to do a realtime video recording?

Yes, it does. I assume you will need a lot of disk space due to the long game. :) Here's an example of my DOOM 2 mod demo recording with DOS version: (

Realtime video capture records without compressing, so the files do get huge.

Yeah, split up the game into pieces. :)

I play the game without DOSBox so I can't do video capturing, and I doubt Fraps works with DOS. :erm:
Text walkthroughs work great too, if you are stuck. :)

Heh - speed runs on difficulties 0/0/0/0 :P
I guess I'm no candidate for a speed run, but I can start making guesses: One hour (on max diff.) - but this would probably include not listening to any log and hack all panels/keycodes by heart.

The reactor override code is randomly different each time you play, so you'd not be able to memorize that one, you'd have to collect all the digits.

FYI, for those seeing the SS2 speedrun for the first time as I was, you can download it here instead for repeat offline viewing :D :

I'd be keen to see an SS1 speedrun as well. No psi teleportation or invisibility, but you could make good use of the restoration chambers, especially on the reactor level for example. I'm sure you could even make use of the shoot-through-screens trick in a few places.

Are there no (unwritten) rules to prevent this? There's still a fine line between excessive exploiting of functions/features and abusing bugs...
