Video of what happens when you dont use a turn signal when going to the hospital... - by 37637598

That's just it, it doesn't appear to have been an emergency. They were en route "to pick up a wheelchair" FFS.
Note: The cop may have been in pursuit for minutes, turning his dashcam on only after the could-be routine stop turned into a pursuit. It's clear that neither the confrontation nor the ladies refusal to comply originated in "the hospital parking".
Luckily though, in the end the future parapalegic made a miraculous recovery, just in time to break his cane over the cop's head of course.
Perhaps Christ himself has finally gotten sick of all of these horrid alpha male types always trying to keep us all down during the moments of our lives where laws don't matter any more than the safety of others, like when we need to pick up a wheelchair for our own beloved escrima warriors.
Seriously, do a couple of ride-alongs.
Learn why cops have to take and maintain control of the various situations they find themselves in on a daily basis, yes even
before they know what is
really going on. You will find out real quick that any situation can get out of hand in no time flat, and you will then begin to understand why every scenario is a worse case until
proven otherwise.
Before you go on with the "but you should ALWAYS question authority" or various other applicable strawmen: We all know that cops fuck up, and often. This again, is not one of those times. One iota of understanding in the SOP with regards to law enforcement you would know that,
based soley on the video. Calling cops out on this shit is akin to crying wolf, which detracts from the credibility of
actual fuckups like (
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/16549/) this perhaps.
Edit. Yes, the linked vid is fake.

Um, no. The very first thing she says is, "My husband fell and crushed himself, I'm going to get him a wheelchair."
This issue is NOT whether or not the guy was actually hurt. The cop totally ignored the fact that someone could have
actually been hurt and in need of quick medical care, so that he could take this woman to task over turn signal violation. Does that not seem odd to you? He didn't ask a single question about the husband, or try to help in the situation at all. He was too concerned about bullying her over a minor infraction that could have waited until after the patient was checked in. Whether the guy was actually hurt or not is irrelevant related to the cop's initial response to the incident.
BTW - what 'situation' did the cop have to 'maintain control' of? He's the one that CREATED the 'situation' -the woman was completely calm until he started grabbing her and trying to keep her from simply getting a wheelchair. Seems to me he
wanted a situation so he could play that big bad cop. The situation would not have 'gotten out of hand' if his first concern was for the potentially injured man, THEN the turn signal violation. Isn't that the obvious order of priority for any civilized person, cop or no?

To state that they were "going to the hospital to get a wheelchair", as if that was the entire purpose of the drive (vs. going to the hospital and on the way into the emergency entrance, getting a nearby wheelchair to wheel in the "wounded") is seeing things as fucked up and skewed as that cop did - and ignoring the obvious.
Such a perspective, I fear, would lead one to "create a situation" just as did the cop.
Did that cop also say something like "an ambulance" was "on the way"? I am not sure, but if so, that's even MORE fucked up - to have someone not 30 feet from the hospital entrance and instead of assisting them in that final 30 feet instead to make the wait right there for an ambulace to carry them that far.
What a jackass.
And what's this "do some ride alongs" shit? I don't need to do any "ride alongs" to recognize that cop was creating a scenerio. You can find any number of "bad boys" videos on TV, YouTube, Live Leak, Nothing Toxic, etc. to see how "it can go bad in a seconds time" and it still doesn't make this episode anything more than a cop on a power trip.

no he wanted to know why the woman hadn't called an ambulance if it was actually an emergency...he kinda used this as his evidence that it actually wasn't an emergency...but...I wonder if he knows what ambulance transportation actually costs...

But Martek - didn't you see how potentially dangerous that middle-aged woman was to the cop? After all - she was standing out in the open without a weapon or intent to harm. THE WHOLE SCENE COULD HAVE WENT TITS UP IF THE COP HADN'T SECURED HER IMMEDIATELY!
You have to actually be in a situation like that to understand how volatile it can become. Unarmed middle aged wives of injured people in ER parking lots have been the death of many a good cop.

alright Fett if you've ever watched cops I sincerly hope that was sarcasm. Regardless of who it is as soon as somone steps OUT of a vehicle they can be a cop's last encounter. People usually don't shoot from inside the car, and stepping out is usually a sign of aggression...as was proved by her passenger. Cops never know what a suspect will do, I will give him that much credit, just one more link in the chain of causation which could have easily been avoided.
and for the record, I don't think I've ever seen a scene where somone stepped out of the car in which it didn't end in an arrest.

Then by that standard, everyone who steps out of their car during a pull over should be arrested on the spot, right? Does the fact that she was in an ER drop off not change the situation just a bit? Also note that she exited the car and immediately began moving away from the cop, toward the front doors (presumably to get a wheelchair), and plainly told him why she was doing so. She wasn't running away - her husband was still in the car. Give me a fucking break - is there anything whatsoever about the woman's demeanor or behavior when she first exits the car that signifies hostility or aggression toward the cop? No. She became hostile when he tried to detain her over a turn signal violation, and when it was obvious that the violation was more important to the cop than the supposedly injured man in the car.
You guys do realize that sometimes people go to the hospital because they have a medical emergency? As far as I'm aware, it's not a popular place to pull over if you're intending to shoot a cop.

Can we all agree to beat the shit out of Thief13x now?
After all, WE CAN NEVER KNOW HOW DANGEROUS HE MIGHT TURN OUT TO BE.
HE CAN SNAP ANY MINUTE.
