I have a new installation with tafferpatcher 212. The game is working but will crash on a video or cutscene.
I have looked at the technical thread and tried a batch file in c:\thief2; and using the command prompt "regsvr32.exe c:\thief2\LGVID.AX" run as administrator. I have gotten the "DllRegisterServer in c:\thief2\LGVID.AX succeeded" message several times which should indicate everything is good to go...
I am at a loss! help!

Does the video play at all when if you run it (without the game)?
In the Newdark zip, there's another zip, contrib.zip. Put the content of "contrib.zip" into the T2 root folder

-you didn't mention the OS, so install K-Lite-Codec pack to be sure
-shut down internet browsers
-restart the PC

crashes should produce crashdumps - zip one up (crash.dmp, include thief2.log), upload somewhere (gdrive etc) and post the link.

OS is Windows 10 64-bit.
The videos will play without the game. During the game, the videos will start then crash the game.
I extracted contrib.zip and let it overwrite existing files, but it did not work.

Thanks for your time and help!

Try to set the game resolution as the desktop (1600 x 900).

Unna Oerdottir: changing resolution to 1600 x 900 had no effect.
voodoo47: On your advice I had already edited the "d3d_disp_no_rgb10_buf" line in cam_ext.cfg and it solved a problem with strange screen colors. Is there another line I should look at?
