PS: I'd vote for setting up a crash-o-meter to list reasons for crashes at certain points (of e.g. the loading process) when known. Like... crash at 25% means GameSys discrepancy, crash at 75% teleport dest name issue, crash at the end is vertex pools exceeded and so on.
And how do you think to manage to create it?

Like that for instance:
Inline Image:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/120727/94wwulk2.jpgIG = in game (crashes when packed as an FM), Ed = Editor load crash
Crash at / Possible reason / Solution
0%(Ed) Runtime error, abnormal program termination: missing entry.gmp --> add at least a generic entry.gmp file
25%(IG) GameSys discrepancy: Some actors refer to GameSys entries that are not present --> Update GameSys
(IG) Conversation files missing: some of the *.db files (?) of the CONTENT\T3\Conversations folder are not up to date in the FM folders -> copy all new (i.e. post-2004) files from your editor install, also c.f. the packing list in Komag's tutorial
75%(IG/Ed) Teleport Destination Name error: teleport dest names in volume and playerstart don't match --> check them
100%(IG?/Ed) Vertex Pool exceeded --> Increase the pools in user.ini
Upon creating a savegame(IG) Property Storage Count exceeded, your mission has so many properties used (e.g. more than app. 42000) that the ones used for saving break the limit of 61440 --> get rid of objects etc. or divide your map, also c.f. (

...and this sort of thing filled up with everyone's experience. I'd put it in the Wiki, but well, the Wiki...

I wonder how did you get to know these precise values.........
Beleg Cúthalion on 9/2/2010 at 10:02
These aren't exact values, massimiliano-quote-the-entire-post-above (:p), this is just supposed to provide help to find out what might be the cause of a crash if it happens at certain points of the loading process.

There seems to be a pattern in this, good find. :thumb:

And how do you reach to know where precies values are? For example, at what point the game exits for the gamesys values, and so on... Experimentations?
Beleg Cúthalion on 9/2/2010 at 19:41
:weird: Don't know what complicated stuff you're looking for. It's just that when you've seen the game crash the for 3rd time at the same point, you more or less know where it is. And if you find the cause of the crash, you can count one and one together.

Hmmmm... so experimentations
