How to us the silt rider in Balmora?
If I try to activate the silt rider nothing happens.
Talking to the people I came to know that a certain person runs it.
But how should I find him?
Daggerfall was good here that you could easily see the hole map and also that important things were marked.
Also can someone help me with WIN98.
I am not able to run the game properly in98, but in 2000/XP the game runs, but very slow.
Thanks.

There should be an NPC up a ramp/staircase for every Silt Strider. If there's no NPCs near them, try typing RA in the console.

You don't actually use the silt strider (he isn't even a real object, just a part of the map), you talk to an NPC who can take you places.

Yes, a set person runs each individual Silt Strider
---But how should I find him?
He should be standing right next to him.

There's a map in the inventory screen (press right mouse button)

update drivers, reinstall drivers, upgrade, dance... etc

In Balmora near the the silt rider there is no such ramp/staricase
2. He should be standing right next to him.
Nope sorry but he is not.
3. There's a map in the inventory screen (press right mouse button)
I know that, but the map of daggerfall was way better(minus dungeon maps!).
It actually used to write on the map, say palace.
4. update drivers, reinstall drivers, upgrade, dance... etc.
Actually my PC has been configured for optimal performance.
The thing is that in 98 I am not able to view the local map, it is totally black.
In 2000/Xp there is no such problem.

selvil sareoth... He's on a ramp just south of the council club and locky lockup. There's a stair case that is first two staircases, then join together above a small arch/entryway. He's the silt strider master guy in balmora.
As far as the map, yeah, I don't like it either.
for the system stuff... I've never heard of that problem, so I can't help you. Just live with crummy framerates with winxp, or no map in win98... or find someone else to help... all I can say is reinstall/update/dance.

If you face the Lucky Lock up and Council Club and turn around, you should see a staircase going up and a guy standing up there, that's who you talk to and he'll take you where you want to go. :tsktsk:

Are you by any chance standing outside the gate next to the Silt Strider. He is outside, the stairs are inside the gate.

Thanks all of you.
Managed to access the silt rider.
And Cenar you are right.
I just hope that someone can make a mod which will write all the imp. buildings on the automap.

For the most part, you can mouse over the yellow squares, and it will tell you what the building is. This only works if it has a door, though.

Nomad, I know that, but it is only half as good as the daggerfall map.
