Hey, nifty. I hadn't heard about this. (I haven't been flying in quite some time, though...)
I've never been too much into the simulating-a-commercial-flight myself, but this looks like a thoroughly groovy application regardless.
Thanks for the heads-up!

THE SHADOWCAT(JAS-Thunder Over Europe)?!
How you been? Miss you over at the Jas forum.
For Flight Unlimited 3, I suggest you all get Hennies BaronXP Challenge (baronxp_chlng_v1.1.zip) and Shawn Click's FU3Pro challenge(fu3pro_040901.zip). Both remarkable in that they will "challenge" you, yet are very engrossing and fun to fly.
Another great one is Steffen Schiedek's 747 Realism Challenge which is a custom challenge designed specifically around the B747(747realismchallenge3.zip).
There are many-many more challenges available there for Fu3/2, all excellently designed and scripted.
All available at Avsims Flight Unlimited 3 Library. Read their "readme.txt's" to ensure you have the proper aircraft.
You all have fun and enjoy, maybe I'll see you online at Fss.
JimB.

Yep, it's me. I'm sorry that TOE isn't back online... I totally intended to resurrect it once I set up a new domain, but I never actually got around to setting up a domain, so TOE is still in limbo. If it would be useful, I could provide the files to anyone who wanted to host them?

I'll have to drop by again. It's a long time since I've flown anything to be honest, but it sounds like it's time to at least get FU3 reinstalled and check out some of the recent updates!

Flight3,
-There's a UK hi-res now. I think the way the fellas at Avsim Forums been getting it is e-mailing Quaxxo, they make arrangements and he sends them the cd's. Kind of like how Komags doing the FM CD's(get with Quaxxo to know for sure). I haven't done it yet, no room on my hard drives.
-I failed to list the DC3 challenge as a must have.
-There's been some porting of a few Flight2 challenges over to Flight3 for folks who don't have Flight2.
-Gideon uploaded the sdk's for his wonderful Flight Unlimited programs to Avsim.
Jas,
-Pags came out with a Lancaster night mission which has a custom weapons loadout and formations. Also comes with Wil's upgrade which consists of his combat.gam, searchlight axl, lighthouse axl, Ju88G axl, and Me163B1a physics model. Very nice package.
-Darkwolk came out some months ago with a great B17 campaign "Bundles for Berlin". Has a whopping 14 missions in it.
-Gottedammerung uploaded his 109 and 190 skins to Avsim. He's got a Spit IX skin I think he's not been able to find; so when he does, those'll be uploaded as well.
-I'm hoping Warbirds will do the same.
-Has been a long while now, but there's been a Jas bin to E object tool uploaded to Avsim.
Thunder Over Europe,
How big is the material? I know nothing about the web hosting stuff. Is it to big for some of the free hosts out there, like Angelfire?
You all take care,
JimB

Sorry for the delayed response -- just moved house, and have been offline for a while!

Excellent. Does that include correct height maps for the landscape? The last I saw of such projects (a long time ago, in their early stages) the landscape was either flat, or shaped like seattle.
> -I failed to list the DC3 challenge as a must have.
Ah yes, the DC3 was a nice package.
I also saw recently that someone has figured out how to make a plane with a transparent cockpit... I didn't think that was even possible in FU3. I wonder if that feature will make its way into more of the available aircraft? Either way, it's great to see this sim still getting support!

Sounds like it. I'll have to take a look. I've yet to see any searchlight projects in action.

Nah, it's all text, and quite small (I dislike bulky web sites). The pages are JSP which affects the hosting choices, but I could change that easily enough. I don't know anything about Angelfire. I'll have to check that out too.

Uk Hi-res has correct height maps and 4meter color digital photo textures. Not flat. Though some folks thought it was, then they were reminded there wasn't much in elevation changes near London. I had downloaded a map of the region that was made, can't find it right now.
There are more aircraft for Flight3 with the transparent cockpit. At Avsim for download.
Moving to new house? Now thats a Christmas present. Good luck on the move.
