PowerCrazy,
You definitely need to play DX some more and think about what your mission is in the game, and the role you're fulfilling. Your thoughts are way off the mark. You need to go back to Quake 3 or Serious Sam or something.
rhalibus & Felonious Punk,
You two definitely have the right idea. That's the way they should incorporate the killing of civillains.

just to clarify. I don't go around DX just killing wantonly, But I like the idea that in DX YOU CAN. I mean your're playing the game and something pisses you off... Your mom comes in and makes you take out the trash or whatever. Well you can just go on a rampage with the Dragons Tooth and clear the entire level. Just because you want to. Thats all I'm Saying besides it helps add to the replayibility. You try to kill certain NPCs in Unatco early. Like Walton Simons, Gunther, Navarre, even Manderly. But they are invulnerable because they are Crucial NPCs. But I think it would be cool to be able to kill all those people before you defect to the NSF you kill Manderly and a bunch of other people then run to the Helicoptor with Jock. Besides Jock has already defected otherwise he wouldn't take you to see your brother. besides ITS JUST A GAME!!!!!!!! IN GAMES YOU CAN DO THINGS THAT YOU CAN'T DO IN REAL LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit what PowerCrazy did say, there was a possibility where PC could kill everyone on that level, ie. bloodthirsty nanobot. BackDoorBandit think about Anne Navare, she was quite ugly sometimes but she did follow missonrules what was set to her. It was really awful time when Anne kill that poor NPC on the plane, no matter what did you do. At fallout series PC can be either Good or Bad or try balance both and be Neutral. It salt of the game when PC can be either what Player want PC to be!
Hey rhalibus, did you save the world, I mean did your PC really make world better place to live? Or worst? Would you really like to live full of butterflies and flowers or do want to live world where you can be what you are? Did you notice there was 4th ending in DX, when you stop JC on there and start a new game!
Siinä se sitten seisoo toistaiseksi! What I really want to do in DX2, is to go whit public transportation ie. Metro, Bus, Taxi and see how people live around me. I really liked moment on The Longest Journey when April did go into public transportation, and I notice that The Longest Journey world was bad place. How about NOLF where PC was inside the plane, move that into DX2 and fill it whit characters from different cultures. I really don't like games where Level is fully loaded whit LADAS! Even if Game Develober has to fill street whit same kind mobile, really did all NPCs bought their mobiles at same time and same mobile dealer ;), and then drive them on that street? Where is all that rust, oil and dirt from Computer Game Mobiles? Does player have to imagine all different types things inside Game World?

Hey, don't get me wrong--butterflies and flowers are the bomb! :)
And speaking of The Longest Journey--when is Funcom going to make
the sequel? April was one of the most fully realized characters of
any game last year...

Jep, they might be, I would like idea if one DX2 endings would be as dream like ending where PC falls into dreamworld filled whit butterflies, flowers, satyrs, elves , dreamcharacters etc. I also could be in middle of game, when PC tries put on dreamchipper. Or by lending aug. idea from shadowrun novel (Tails you lose), PC got dreamchip (it's reduce normal sleep into 15 min. ) during that time PC could dream dream-of-butterflies-field, or when PC use dreamchip it twist PC into other person ie. splited personality <-skitsofrenia :p
From FunCom website:
Q Will there ever be a sequel or a prequel to The Longest Journey?
No matter what you may have heard, there are currently no official plans for a sequel or a prequel. Notice, however, that we just used the word "currently". In other words, this could change soon! There are certainly more tales to be told of the twin worlds of Stark and Arcadia, and there are a lot of unanswered questions regarding April's future, so there's always the possibility that the story will continue at some point in the not-too-distant future.<-2004???

Vehicles
It would provide a lot of gameplay opportunities if they had drivable vehicles in Deus Ex 2, especially ones with BIG USABLE MOUNTED GUNS! Rocket launchers, machine guns etc. JC Denton snipes the skipper of a terrorists' boat. Then gets on board and sails round the dock, where he machineguns a bunch of terrorists, before diving in the water.
Stealing a golf-cart would be fun. (If a bit slow).

Do you realize how much more work they would have to do if they were gonna add a UNATCO "campaign" into the game. Just think about all the conversations they have made. It is fairly extreme when you think about it. However, I do agree with you, two separate missions would be cool, but I am afraid by doing that, the lenght of the campaigns would fall quite a bit. Being able to control vehicles would destroy the image of deus ex. It would mean that you could go anywhere you wanted and didn`t need anybody. If you in DX2 was able to control vehicles it would mean that you are some kind of driving genious. How realistic is that?

I would actually like to play a shorter game (15 hours) with more replay value instead of a single linear 30 hour game. You could make the first five hours the same, and then diverge the plot into completely different scenarios depending on the choices the player made. The reason I'm _still_ playing Deus Ex now is because I keep discovering something new: the smugglers hideout, the phone conversation with Helios, the metro area beside the catacombs, etc. If they increased this diversity of plot for the sequel, you might be able to play it until they released the third game!
