1- I think it would be awesome to drive in cars, fly in a plane, or motor in a boat. I know this would add a lot of control problems, but its been done in other games, so it might work in DX2.
2- I also have a problem with the LONG loading time in DX. Just going from hells kitchen to the bar, and then back would take 10-15min of loading time! I have an AMD300 16mb Voodoo3, and 130mb ram... it shouldn't take 5min to load a new section to the map. Please speed this up!
3- Let the player make more choices. I know you tried to give the player a lot of freedom, but you still had no choice about joining the NSF. I think the game would have been MUCH cooler if you could stay with UNATCO, OR go with the NSF.
4- Maps could also be worked on in DX2. My favorite level in DX was the gas station. it was simple, yet you could play it as sneaker or fighter perfectly. it was OUTSIDE, and it was dynamic. it didn't involve halls or security codes, it was a lot more realistic in my opinion. So, for dx2, lets have more outside levels, and less "building complex" levels IE: area51. How about a level in a forest? ever think about that? attack a base hidden deep in the heart of a chinese mountian range. float down the river, find the correct landing beach, then hike through the woods until you find the base. it would be great!

About the loading times...
I think it's just your machine thats a little sh*tty.
The loading times are about 120 secs on a P3500/256MB/Voodoo3 2000
Anyways, about vehicles and such.
Its been promised so many times, and delivered so very very few that I dont think that Ion will bother.
The best game that incorporates both first-person action and vehicles is Operation Flashpoint.

Driving vehicles is an excellent idea, but like you said, it would add some control problems, and some people might criticize it heavily for that.
What I would like to see from a vehicle stand point is conversations/plot taking place in vehicles. Maybe you get picked up somewhere, whether it's in a car, boat, helicopter, airplane, on a motorcylec, etc., but there's a conversation taking place between you and another individual in or on that machine while it's moving of course, and when it's all done, you're let off at your proper destination and the mission/s continue. This could be an in-engine cutscene, or out, but either way, it would totally rock. It would add atmosphere to the game. Here's an example of something I'd like to see...
You're on an airplane headed for San Francisco Airport. The camera starts outside of the airplane from afar, slowly zooming in on the plane while the 747 banks hard to the right/left for its approach into San Francisco International Airport. When the plane breaks to the right/left and while the camera is slowly zooming/panning on the plane, you hear, "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We will now start our decent into San Franciso International Airport in which the weather is lovely. It's a nice 72 degrees with a brisk wind coming out of the northeast, and we expect a very smooth landing. Sit back and relax, and we'll be on the ground in about 20 minutes." With that, the camera is now entering the plane, and focuses on JC and whomever. It shows you the conversation, gives you some choices that would grant you some secondary objectives once you land at SFO and unveils much about the plot and your mission ahead. The next cutscene shows you landing, and then your thrown into your mission. You start out at the Airport and on the walkway deboarding the plane. You've got to make it to a locker (how cliche) and pick it, or get the key from the gentleman who it belongs to in the bathroom, or wherever he is. The locker is being watched, and you must somehow distract/take out the individual/s watching it so that you can use said key, or pick it if you have lockpicks. Once you've got the goods/evidence from the locker, you've got to make a drop for a passenger who will exchange information with you, whom is leaving the country in about an hour. You've got to meet him/her in the other wing of the airport. There's another problem though. It's heavily guarded and there's noway you can make it through, so you've got to find a backdoor, or ventilation shaft :), whichever is more convenient so that you can get to the other wing of the airport and accomplish said mission. BTW, if you kill any innocent bystanders in the airport, you fail the mission. You meet with your contact, and now you've got to get out of the airport. Your contact tells you that a taxi driver is waiting for you outside who goes by the name of "so and so", or is driving taxi number "1234" and he/she knows where to take you already. Just get in the car. You find the taxi driver, get in the car...cutscene.
The driver spills info. He/she gets you to your destination, and the mission continues. You are now at the Fishermans Warf, Pier 39 and you've got to ????
You get my point, but this is how I'd like vehicles used in DX.

Jesus. 10-15 minutes? 120 seconds? I've only got a k6-2 400 and a voodoo 3 and my load times have neverbeen above 15-20 seconds max. Sounds like there's something wrong with your systems, guys ...

seriously. i don't even have a voodo (just a pent.3 750 w\ a Nvidia TNT\2) and my load times aren't very long at all. i hardly notice em.

A Jetski would be preety cool.
Perhaps on some level you need to hijack or break onto a yacht, and you get there by jetski or boat.

Takes me about 5 to 10 secs on a 1.3GHz Pc

about killing innocent bystanders... I HATE GAMES LIKE THAT, something like "Too many civilian casualities mission failed" That really annoys the F*ck out of me. Thats what I liked about DX you could kill EVERYONE on a level just because you wanted too. And most of the crucial NPCs were invulnerable. Sure that decreases the realistic qualities of the game but it DEFINETLY increases the fun. DX2 should be like that.
Although there was one mission in DX that I really liked... The Gas Station was probably one of my favorite levels yet it had an NPC that couldn't be killed or the mission was a failure... Hmmm. I wonder what the difference is. Anyway i definetly think DX2 should allow the same freedom DX has. I want to be able to kill A Huge Group of people with my GEP Gun. Just because I want to. And another thing FINITE enemies. I really hated Metal Gear solid because of the Infinite Enemies thing. IF DX2 changes EVERYTHING at least keep the number of enemies on a level to a set amount. I really find it frustrating if I sit there sniping Enemy after enemy only to see them come and come one after another. Even Area51 was annoying with the stupid UCs pumping out monster after monster. But At least you could turn those off.
Wow what a long post but I am sure you guys would agree with me. :)

I like the idea of killing anyone you want, but having consequences later (police don't cooporate with you or you have to avoid them). You can also have bonuses for a completely stealthy non-lethal completion (extra augs, info, etc.) and even varying bonuses on the number of people saved or not killed...Deus Ex sort of did that on a small level anyway. What I HATE is when you kill someone and the mission ends abruptly! The whole fun of being a part of a _ secret conspiracy_ is that there is an element of moral nilhism in any of your decisions; after all--you're saving the world, right? So killing someone is obviously bad and you should get dinged, but not so bad that the game should suddenly end. Play it how you want: Dudley Do-Right or Golgo 13... :)
I also like the idea of being able to drive cars--maybe rescuing a hostage and having a car or van be another choice for a shielded excape!
Damn I love this game

Geez folks, if you're so damn bloodthirsty play Quake or Unreal. Since DX tries to mirror the real world somewhat, an agent of the government who decides he's just going to be a serial killer for the fun of it would be out of a job, very quickly, to understate things greatly. Of course, I suppose you could go on a muderous rampage once you go rogue, but what would be the point? Don't you have Majestic 12 to stop? And besides - why should someone rescue you from your stupidity when you kill some plot-critical NPC?
Kids these days, sheesh...
