Hopefully I will soon be in a position to upgrade to the latest version of vB - 3.8
At the moment we have a problem where we are locked out of the vBulletin Member's area, so we can't pay for the upgrade. I believe this stems from the last time the server broke and I used the temporary forums and forgot to update the URL the forum license is associated with, so they may well have gone LOL PIRACY on us. (despite having a page up saying the server was broken, and directing people to the temporary forums)
Anyway, I am trying to get this rectified, but the support staff dealing with this kind of problem are being a bit stupid, don't appear to have actually read my request and are trying to get me to log into the member's area, which I have already told them (twice, in fact) I can't do.
Once this has been sorted in the next couple of days I'll be upgrading the forum straight away, without preparing the style for it as I usually do. This is because the new version has some much better spam control and integration with a great service and will mean that new registrants will be able to immediately use their accounts, rather than waiting for me to verify them.
Basically, what I am saying is that once I upgrade the forums, they will look like a standard vBulletin forum and a little bit wonky, things may not work properly, and things that are enabled in the new version may disappear if we decide we don't want them.
So, apologies in advanced for any problems!

Sometime ago I believe they changed the passwords for all customers, maybe that is what happened. How hard can it be to send you a new password?
vBulletin 3.8 is great, actually 3.7.x was good too. :P - Good to see things moving. You'll find many new features a great help when it comes to moderating/administrating. PS: Be sure to sign up for Akismet and use ReCAPTCHA to concure the spammers once and for all (mostly).
^_^

The email address the license is assigned to is no longer active, which seems to be the main problem. Hopefully it'll get sorted out soon.
And Akismet was the 'great service' I referred to :p

I can't do.
So they're just like any other help desk.
Truly, they're all fucking corporate sheep that do nothing more than follow a script to the very letter, and are incapable of independent thought and reasoning.

I didn't know Akismet was available for vB. Oh well, it works fine on WP, so why not. If you have humans signing in for the bots, reCaptcha won't help much though. I've had a good experience (read: not a single spammer in months) with custom validation questions. (eg "What does LGS stand for?")
