Yeah, but without already knowing how it works it's about as intuitive as someone else's kitchen.

I've noticed that the funky new in-line Edit function works in IE, but not Opera. Is that something to do with my settings (I've checked to make sure JavaScript is on, if that makes a difference), or is it something to do with Opera itself?
David on 8/10/2005 at 14:54
You need to have version 8.02 or later installed, as until then Opera did not support the required features.

I'd like to take this brief moment to express my gratitude for all the hard work you've put into this. Everything looks brilliant. Exactly the same, only somewhat better. Good job.
In other words, I haven't discovered anything that doesn't work anymore like it used to just yet.

Thanks :)
The lightbulbs next to each forum on the main page will now mark that forum as read. I'll be making a modification at some point to redirect you back to the main page rather than the parent forum.
David on 9/10/2005 at 12:15
Ok, the above redirect is in place. If you click one of the lightbulbs on the main forum page you will now be redirected back to the main forum page rather than the category for that forum.
Signature limitation is back.

David - I read through this thread and didn't see reference to something I've noticed. Before the update, if I left for a while and came back, all the threads which were unread before were marked read automatically, so that upon returning only the posts which were new since my last login were marked as unread. Now, I have to "Mark this forum read" before closing the browser to emulate that behavior. Is this something that was intentionally changed? Or is there some setting somewhere in my user options that got twiddled (I looked and found nothing)?
David on 14/10/2005 at 06:12
There isn't an option. The way threads are marked as read has changed.
Previously all threads would be marked as read after fifteen minutes of inactivity. Now threads are only marked read when you actually read them, although everything older than 10 days is considered "read".
To make marking a forum "read" a little easier I've made it so you can click the lightbulbs on the forum home page to mark them, also at the very bottom of the forum home page is a link to mark all the forums as read.

I have to comment on what a significant improvement the current vehavior is. Before, if I looked at the forum index but got called away, all of the fora would be marked as read before I had a chance to open them. Now nothing is marked unless I actually read it, so I can finally trust the "new thread" marker to actually mean that I haven't read a particular thread.

Agreed. At first I was momentarily annoyed that the forum wasn't cleared automatically, before it became clear to me that this way is vastly better. Having accurate information on which threads you have and haven't read completely outweighs any such minor irritations.
