Urgh no, I really dislike breadcrumb info at the bottom. :eww:

I'm looking for a "mark threads as read" button for each forum. Is there one?
(goes away to have a better look.)
Er, I found it on the "Forum Tools" menu. A seperate button might be nicer, though.

I'll try and drop one into either the navbar at the top, or a bar at the bottom, similar to to the 'Mark Forums Read' one of the forum homepage.

Yes, that was done on purpose to keep the FAQ's in the most visble location. Their "Last Post" dates have been altered to be some time in 2038 when the Unix Date Format stops working.
Unfortunately this seems to make those threads always look as if they have new messages, which makes the forum (at least the FM forum) always look as if it has new posts in it. This is pretty annoying, because as a mod I was reloading the User CP occasionally and only going into the forum when the light bulb lit up.
Unfortunately editing the post doesn't set the date back to the present. Any possibility of getting it reset manually, or somehow getting the FAQ thread to stop showing up as new?

Yeah, I'm going to set those back to their proper date and time as the current solution is no good at all.
In vB3.0.x I accomplished it by seperating the parsing process for sticky and regular threads so I could order sticky threads by the date created and regular posts by the last posting date.
I'm trying to find a solution that does not involve quite a complex edit every time a new version is released.
Hopefully someone will release a hook/plugin that allows the order of sticky threads to be set.
I might just end up altering the database to add a DisplayOrder column and then alter the entries query to order by it first. That still requires a file edit though, and a database edit too, which I am even less keen to do, but it might come down to it. We'll see.

If they were sorted by the last edit time, we could just edit a FAQ to bump it to the top of the list. That's about the only quick hack I can think of.
David on 3/10/2005 at 19:42
They're ordered by last post time, and as there are a fair few sticky threads in which people can reply to it'd take quite an effort to keep an FAQ at the top.
The other option is to change the FAQs to announcements, but I think even LESS people would read that than the stickied thread.

This fucking thing still dispenses cold coffee. Can we get that fixed, PLEASE? I love the new feature, but Christ if I wanted COLD coffee I'd make it my own damned self.
(Also I have an IDEA as far as making FAQs insanely visible goes, but I'll have to see how the concept pans out)

Blink tag, baby.
Gingerbread Man on 4/10/2005 at 03:52
I seem to remember we deliberately snafued the blink tag on account of it being heinous when people used it in posts.
