So a load of trendy Dawkins-bashing complete with gratuitous false accusations, before an admission that he's 100% correct on this issue.
Got it.

Being a supporter of Dawkins is more trendy than being a basher of it, I would've thought. Where exactly are my false accusations?
At the end of the day, it's just my personal opinion on Dawkins (who I otherwise respect) - this guy sees himself as the bastion of scientific knowledge versus religious institutions, therefore his getting up and supporting the basic law (as I see this situation) means precisely fuck all - except that he's getting all the love-in exposure from continuing to assert himself as an anti-religious reactionary in a very populist and hyperbolic manner (being the media hype around this particular report), which if anything undermines his position as a rational scientist standing firm against the tide of religion's nonsense.
Out of interest, what charge would he be up for? Conspiracy? Obstruction of Justice?

Agreeing with Scots 100% itt.
SD, you seem all butthurt over someone not actually liking Dawkins. What is he, your boyfriend or something? I respect his (logical) views, but getting in on this Pope hunt does nothing for his credibility - if anything it makes him look a little bit nutty.
Beleg Cúthalion on 12/4/2010 at 11:38
AFAIK the only sustainable logic I read from Dawkins is his evolution-does-work-even-if-it-has-holes argument against creationism. :weird: The rest was... well...
I believe the media won't give a damn if in the end they'll have only a handful of actual convictions instead of the dozens of allegations. If they can by legal means catch the Pope they should not treat him better or worse than any other person (who, for instance, granted a pedo some sort of job, since that's about what happend AFAIK).

Dawkins is only a peripheral player in this biz anyway. The press probably went to him pretty fast once he even looked at it since he's good for an inflammatory quote.
It was apparently Hitchens who set this ball rolling (a much more erudite anti-religious rabble rouser, I think we can all agree. And he sought the opinions of Robertson, who is something of a specialist in the prosecution of Heads of State (although his angle is that the Vatican isn't really a state anyway)

The ironic thing is that Dawkins fanboys are just as much fundamentalists as the people he encourages them to hate, but it's more pathetic because the fanboys are otherwise generally intelligent people.
I've said before, there are great arguements against Creationism. Unfortunately, he never uses them, and therefore is always preaching to the choir. :erg:

Don't spin that too hard, LeatherMan.
The spin came from the article's original headline, not me. They changed the headline after I posted the link, and you can tell by the link itself since it hasn't changed: "...ld/europe/3571666/Author-Dawkins-seeks-Pope-arrest"

The bit about "inciting bigotry" is what I took exception to. It is a nonsense.

Yes, watch out fett, the Atheist Inquisition is coming round to make sure you're really one of us

Dawkins is a deliberate inciter of bigotry of his own fashioning -
Plus, being a product of British society, he has a bee in his bonnet over Catholicism more than anything else on the planet...
Keep moving along, folks. No irony here.
On an even lighter note, (
