I am a decently equipped 8th level Warrior and I am getting HOUSED by the necromancers in this quest.
Any suggestions on how to approach this quest?
What is a reasonable character level at which one should attempt this quest?

Housed? They are attacking you with dwellings? I think the term is hosed.
If you are a decently equipped level 8 warrior (of some race that actually produces good warriors) then you shouldn't really have many problems. What are your stats, and what items are you useing? Are you stocked up on healing potions? The Vas necromancers aren't too tough, and this shouldn't be that much of a problem.

I wen there, and i was a level 10ish redguard. well the only tough thing is when you go in the door, and you meet the dremora lords. they are fairly tough, now i'm level 28 and can kill most in 3-4 good hits.
so i went back around level 16? 17? maybe less?
anyhoo, yah i figured out how to be an alchemist, and i made kewl health potions.
oh, don't be afraid to do other quests. i'm almost done the fighter guild final quest, and have 3 more in the mages. However i have only done 2 missions of my blades boss guy, (i can't even remember his name.0
patience is a virture.
oh and the necromancer isn't hard at all once you beat those two dremoras. He just summoned a beast, i ran around it, hacked the necro, and ka-poof, the beast is gone.
